After Etihad Airways, Azul Brazilian Airlines, Air Serbia, Vistara Airlines and Virgin Australia, it is now the turn of the regional Italian airline Air Dolomiti to become a new Aeroplan partner.
Air Dolomiti is an Italian regional airline belonging to the Lufthansa Group. Its main hubs are located in Germany: Frankfurt (FRA) and Munich (MUC).
Its fleet consists of 15 Embraer 195s, and it plans to increase to 26 aircraft by 2023. Here are the main destinations served in Europe:
This new Aeroplan partner will make it easier to travel within Europe, adding to the Star Alliance network (Lufthansa, Swiss, Brussels Airlines, TAP, Turkish Airlines, LOT) and partner airlines like Air Serbia. And especially to seasonal destinations such as Sicily or Sardinia.
As of March 30, 2021, you can redeem Aeroplan points for Air Dolomiti flights, based on Aeroplan’s pricing for partner airlines.
Since it is a partner airline, there is a $39 fee to pay, in addition to airport taxes. However, there are no carrier surcharges, as it’s the case since the new Aeroplan program’s launch.
Air Dolomiti flights are in the Atlantic Zone:
All flights operated by Air Dolomiti from Frankfurt and Munich are less than 1,000 miles away. For example, a one-way flight will cost 7,500 points. With the American Express® Aeroplan®* Reserve Card (offering up to 65,000 points and a $100 statement credit), you could, for example, book more than 8 flights on that airline.
Or, with the American Express® Aeroplan®* Card welcome bonus points, you could get a round-trip flight on that airline.
It will be interesting to combine a flight from Montreal or Toronto via Frankfurt and Munich with Lufthansa or Air Canada and continue your trip with Air Dolomiti to destinations such as Turin, Florence, Pisa, Venice or Bari.
Remember: you can add a stopover for only 5,000 Aeroplan points. And this to visit 3 destinations. For example, once in Italy, you could book 2 flights on the same award ticket for only 12,500 Aeroplan points, such as between Palermo (PMO) and Florence (FLR), then Florence and Cagliari (CAG).
Actually, this entire route remains in the first bracket of the reward chart: 7,500 points.
As of March 30, 2021, you can earn Aeroplan points when travelling with Air Dolomiti:
Air Canada continues to expand its list of Aeroplan partners worldwide: Cathay Pacific, Gol, Etihad Airways, Azul, Vistara, Air Serbia, Virgin Australia and now Air Dolomiti.
We also learned that other great news will come soon… To be continued!
