As of today, June 3, 2020, you can earn and redeem Aeroplan miles on Etihad Airways.

As of June 3, 2020, Aeroplan welcomes Etihad Airways as our newest airline partner. Formed in 2003, Etihad Airways is the national airline of the UAE and a division of the Etihad Aviation Group, a diversified global aviation and travel company based in Abu Dhabi. Etihad Airways flies to over 76 destinations in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, in the Middle East and North America with a fleet of 103 Airbus and Boeing aircraft. Aeroplan Miles earned on all eligible Etihad Airways flights do not count toward Air Canada Altitude™ status. Star Alliance ™ Gold and Silver Benefits are not extended by Etihad Airways.

Air Canada has advised us Etihad flights will be subject to the Fixed Mileage Flight Reward chart: And Fuel surcharges will not apply on Etihad operated flights.!
Here is a test for a First Class flight between Paris and Abu Dhabi:
And a First Class flight between Abu Dhabi and New York:
And a First Class flight between Sydney and Abu Dhabi:
Of course, you can incorporate this into a multi-city reward flight. For example, between North America and Australia through Abu Dhabi for only 110,000 Aeroplan miles in First Class (one way)!
