Food and beverage credit for members
In July 2021, the Hilton Honors loyalty program changed the rules for its hotels in the United States. As of this time, complimentary breakfasts have been removed for Hilton Honors Gold and Diamond members.
To compensate, they have been replaced by a daily food and beverage credit until the end of 2021. It can be used to deduct the bill for a meal, for a drink at the bar or a meal ordered in the room, among others.
This is valid for the following hotels:
|Hilton Garden Inn
|Hilton Hotels & Resorts
|Conrad Hotels & Resorts
|LXR Hotels & Resorts
|Motto by Hilton
|Curio Collection by Hilton
|Canopy by Hilton
|Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts
|DoubleTree by Hilton
|Tapestry Collection by Hilton
|Signia by Hilton
Credit varies and depends on hotel brand:
The hotel chain just confirmed today that this rule will continue for all of 2022, with one minor change.
- Boston, District of Columbia, New York City
- Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles County
- Key Largo, Key West and Hawaii.
Effective February 1, 2022, the daily rate will be $18 per day (or $36 per day if there are two or more people in the member’s room). This is an increase of $3 per person, per day.
Is this credit good or not?
This credit can be perfect for people who do not eat breakfast in the morning. In fact, they can put that credit towards another meal during their stay. The same was true for those who had breakfast paid for by their employer or included in a package.
However, this is bad news for a group of three or more people, for example. This credit does not cover all the costs of a family breakfast, especially when there are growing children for example!
On the other hand, for people who are thinking of accumulating credits during a stay of several nights or transferring the unused amounts to the next night: it does not work.
How do I get Hilton Honors Gold status in Canada?
This is an interesting advantage, especially for families.
