Through this partnership with 11 hotel chains and 29 hotel brands, Aeroplan members can save up to 30% in points on a hotel stay. More than 6,000 hotels worldwide are identified with a “HotelSavers” red label on the Air Canada website.

Aeroplan HotelSavers classifies its participating hotels into 8 categories to determine the price ranges in points, from the most economical to the most luxurious, with nights redeemable starting at 10,000 Aeroplan points.

Participating Aeroplan HotelSavers hotel brands have been organized into three distinct ranges, depending on your budget and the type of accommodation you are looking for.

HotelSavers Aeroplan luxury hotels include: Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts, Taj Hotels, Small Luxury Hotels of the World, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Preferred Hotels & Resorts, Kimpton Hotels.

On the premium side of HotelSavers Aeroplan hotels, we find Le Germain Hotels, Omni Hotels & Resorts, Noble House Hotels & Resorts, Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts, Pullman, Hotel Indigo, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts

Finally, in Aeroplan HotelSavers, there are also midscale and economy hotels: Coast Hotels, Holiday Inn Hotels, Novotel, Novotel Hotels & Resorts, Alt Hotels; Ibis and Ibis Styles.

Here are some important details on how HotelSavers works :

• The rates in points for a hotel stay include taxes. Only some establishments charge a resort fee to pay on-site.
• All participating locations will offer a refundable fare, while others will add non-refundable options at discounted points prices.
• It will be possible to pay half in points, half in cash for a stay; similar to what is offered for booking a flight.
• It will still be possible to redeem Aeroplan points for stays at hotels not participating in HotelSavers, and the point price will not change.

On the booking site, by playing with the tabs on the top right, you can easily calculate the most advantageous option for you:

At this time, with some exceptions, it should not be possible to earn elite nights or Elite status benefits with hotel programs such as IHG One Rewards or Accor Live Limitless when booking with Aeroplan HotelSavers. However, our sources tell us that Aeroplan is working to improve this.

Other hotels and brands will also be added to the Aeroplan HotelSavers Program in the near future!

Until December 31, 2024, Aeroplan credit card holders can enjoy a fourth free hotel night for every three nights booked using points.

In addition, holders of American Express Membership Rewards cards such as the American Express Cobalt^MD Card or the Platinum Card^MD from American Express can transfer their Membership Rewards points to Aeroplan at a 1:1 ratio.

It’s a good idea to calculate and compare the value per point of an HotelSavers reservation vs a statement credit (1,000 points = $10) to determine which option is best for you.

At this time, Aeroplan HotelSavers does not offer Marriott Bonvoy hotels. If you have Marriott Bonvoy points, it will be interesting to compare the hotels offered by Aeroplan HotelSavers and those available to you through Marriott Bonvoy (and your interest in earning or renewing an Elite status).

If you’re going to use your Aeroplan points to plan your trip, it’s worth calculating the value per point you can get by redeeming them for flights, hotels or both. This will help you determine the best use of your Aeroplan points based on the price of the airfare and the hotel you wish to stay at.

According to our first research on Aeroplan HotelSavers, it would be possible to get between 0.8 cents and 1.8 cents per Aeroplan point. This is below our estimate of 2.0 cents per Aeroplan point for flights. But it could be a good fit for your travel plans!

Aeroplan HotelSavers is a new avenue to explore for booking hotel stays with points as it offers an exciting variety of properties that are not all included in other hotel chain rewards programs.

In addition, HotelSavers’ 8 hotel categories will help you find a stay that suits your points balance and your needs.

This is an option that can appeal to families in particular! After all: a hotel room can be shared by 2, 3 or 4 people, unlike a plane seat! But be sure to calculate the value you can get from this option.
