To the point Air Canada today announced new destinations to be operated by the Airbus A220. Find out all the details... and how to book them with Aeroplan miles!

The Airbus A220 and Air Canada

The Airbus A220 (formerly Bombardier CSeries) is an excellent aircraft that I have had the opportunity to test many times on Swiss.

Air Canada has ordered 45 of the extended version, the A220-300, the first of which will be delivered by the end of the year.

All these aircraft are manufactured in Quebec and will allow Air Canada to:

  • to renew part of its medium-haul fleet
  • to open up new routes that were previously unfeasible with the current equipment

For their part, passengers will gain in comfort with the A220:

  • Panasonic eX1 in-flight entertainment system in every seat (with over 1,000 hours of premium content, including access to Crave and Stingray)
  • High speed Wi-Fi access with USB A and USB C + power outlets at each seat
  • Larger luggage compartments

There will be 2 cabin classes:

  • Economy with 125 seats in 3-2 configuration
  • Business with 12 seats in 2-2 configuration

Economy seats are the widest in Air Canada’s fleet.

How do I earn Aeroplan Miles?

To purchase one of these flights with an award ticket, you will need 25,000 Aeroplan miles.

This is possible, for example, with <a class=”thirstylink” title=”American ExpressMD Gold Rewards Card, which offers 25,000 Membership Rewards points as a welcome bonus.

These points can be transferred into 25,000 Aeroplan miles.

Knowing that these flights currently cost around $600, using Aeroplan miles is a great way to save money, especially when crossing the continent!
