This firm order for 787-10 Dreamliners comes with the option of adding 12 units of the same model. Air Canada has specified that the first delivery is scheduled for the end of 2025.
These aircraft will offer passengers “a new state-of-the-art cabin layout”, said Michael Rousseau, President and CEO of Air Canada, in a press release.
The 787-10 will enable the airline to meet its emissions reduction targets. According to Boeing, this model produces up to 25% fewer emissions per seat than its predecessor.
On the occasion of this announcement, Air Canada recalled that it operates a 787 Dreamliner fleet comprising 38 787-9 and 787-8 aircraft. The airline is also expecting two further 787-9s from a previous order.
Last year, Air Canada also ordered15 Airbus A220-300 and 26 Airbus A321neo XLR ( extra-long range) series aircraft. These announcements contribute to Air Canada’s goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050.
The Air France-KLM Group made a similar announcement today, ordering 50 Airbus A350 aircraft.
