Milesopedia had the honour to attend the route launch between Quebec City (YQB) and Calgary (YYC) on May 1st. Air Canada inaugurated its non-stop flight between Quebec City and Calgary, offering more options to travellers from the National Capital who want to fly to Western Canada. As of May 2, a direct route between Quebec City and Vancouver will be added to Air Canada’s portfolio of routes.

Air Canada Rouge plans to operate these new domestic routes until the end of October, using Airbus A319 aircraft.

For the occasion, travellers this morning had the opportunity to hear several speeches from people in the field, including David Rheault, Vice President of Government and Community Relations at Air Canada, Robert Mercure, Director of Destination Québec cité, and the Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Health and Member of Parliament for Québec.

Minister Duclos took the time to speak with travellers waiting to board the first ever direct flight to Calgary. They were presented with small gifts from Air Canada.

Mr. Poirier was leaving this morning for Calgary on the inaugural flight to “sell the beautiful region of Quebec” to the people of Alberta.

It should be noted that these direct flights will make it much easier for people who wish to travel to Hawaii or even Asia to reach the West Coast of Canada more easily and quickly.
