After announcing numerous new destinations and routes in recent months, Porter is adding a direct route between Ottawa and Vancouver to its list. This announcement follows an order for the aircraft that was placed in July 2021.
Porter had only De Havilland Dash 8-400s in his fleet. Now Porter can also count on 100 new Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, delivered in 2022.
With these E195-E2s, Porter can offer destinations like:
As of today, this new route can be booked between Ottawa International Airport (YOW) and Vancouver International Airport (YVR). These flights will begin on July 26 with a daily round trip. Here are the details:
Interesting fact: On-board amenities on this flight include complimentary snacks, beer and wine and free Wi-Fi for all passengers. An offer not to be overlooked for business travelers!
For example, a round trip flight from Ottawa to Vancouver from July 26 to August 1 costs $305.64 with the Basic fare. As you might expect, this does not include checked or carry-on baggage.
Through Ottawa, this service will provide connections between Vancouver and Charlettown, Halifax, New York, Toronto-Pearson, Toronto (Billy Bishop) and Thunder Bay.
“Ottawa is positioned as a critical part of Porter’s growing North American network,” said Kevin Jackson, executive vice president and chief commercial officer, Porter Airlines. “We will continue building our presence in YOW and providing a superior level of service and travel options for economy travellers.”
Porter’s western Canada routes are still very new, following the recently announced Montreal-Vancouver and Toronto-Vancouver routes. Starting in July, Porter will offer a total of 10 non-stop flights to and from Ottawa.
This news follows several other announcements by Porter that have increased its service in Canada over the past year.
