Aeroplan Redemption Sale - Is it worth it?

At the end of the promotion, we compared some of the destinations eligible for this promotion with the day before. A trip from Montreal to Vancouver for the Thanksgiving long weekend goes from 17,100 Aeroplan points to 14,500. Round-trip flights for a family of 4 in mid-February go from 90,000 Aeroplan points to 81,600 points. In general, we have averaged discounts of between 10% and 15%. We found that the discount was similar in Economy Privilege and Business class.

It can sometimes be difficult to know whether the price of a flight is a good use of your points or not. Milesopedia estimates the value of the Aeroplan point at 2 cents per point, which is a good benchmark to see if it’s worth it for you. That said, it all depends on your objectives. If you are unsure whether or not to redeem your points during this balance, read our guide to help you decide:

Bottom Line

If you were a few points short of booking your Aeroplan points flights to any of these destinations, you may now be able to do so thanks to this promotion. This may also be an opportunity for you to take advantage of this sale to treat yourself to a higher fare class at an affordable price, like the Premium Rouge cabin between Montreal and Orlando, for example. It’s important to remember that there are many ways to earn Aeroplan points through other loyalty programs and transfer partners.
