WestJet Airlines offers the WestJet Rewards loyalty program. Here are more details on earning, using, and managing your WestJet dollars and affiliated credit cards.
The earned currency is called the “WestJet dollar”.
On flights and vacation packages, the amount of WestJet dollars earned depends on Elite status: from 1% to 3% of the ticket price excluding taxes. The two RBC-issued credit cards also earn 1.5-2% back in WestJet dollars:
Flights on partners (American Airlines, Air France, KLM, Delta, Qantas, etc.) also earn WestJet dollars based on class and distance flown.
WestJet dollars can be used on WestJet flights, WestJet travel agency vacation packages and Sunwing vacation packages. The amount used is a discount on the base fare (fees and taxes are not payable with WestJet dollars).
In this respect, the program is a cashback program, unlike Aeroplan or British Executive Club, which uses a currency (miles or Avios) that has no fixed monetary value.
The price in WestJet dollars will depend on availability and the class, ranging from the lowest (Econo) to the most flexible (Plus). For example, a one-way ticket from Montreal to Toronto will cost between $79 and $410 WestJet dollars.
On partner flights (excluding code-share flights) such as Delta, the full base fare must be paid in WestJet dollars.
Please note that only certain destinations are open.
There are three status levels within WestJet Rewards: Turquoise, Silver and Gold.
To achieve these different statuses, spending a certain amount of money on flight expenses in 12 months on WestJet flights is necessary.
In addition to earning WestJet dollars faster, Silver and Gold members receive benefits such as lounges access, free baggage allowance, free ticket change and more.
