Currently, thanks to this promotional offer, the Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite Card has no annual fee for the first year, including on supplementary cards. And you can earn 10% cash back on all purchases for the first three months (up to $2,000 in total purchases).

Also note that you can use your cash back at any time (the cash back balance must be at least $25).

Here are the general details about the card:

We have compiled the main features of the Scotiabank Momentum Visa Infinite Card‘s insurance booklet.

This data is only informative. Please refer to the insurance booklet provided with the Scotia Momentum® VISA Infinite* card for details.

Travel Medical Insurance

The primary cardholder, their spouse, and accompanying dependent children automatically receive up to one million dollars in insurance coverage each for medical emergencies due to unforeseen illness or accident occurring during a trip outside their province or territory of residence in Canada. The date of departure is counted as the first day.

Coverage is automatically provided to individuals under 65 years of age for a period of up to 15 consecutive days.

If you are under 65 and traveling for more than 15 days, you can purchase a travel insurance extension from Scotia Assistance.

Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption Insurance

The Scotiabank Momentum Visa Infinite Card helps protect your travel investment with trip interruption insurance offered at no additional cost.

You, your spouse, one travelling companion and your eligible dependent children travelling with you, are automatically insured. Each insured person receives trip interruption insurance of up to $2,000 (maximum $10,000 per trip) provided you charge at least 75% of your trip cost to your Scotiabank Momentum Visa Infinite Card.

Should you need to cancel your trip, you, your spouse, and your dependent children are eligible for up to $1,500 per person (up to $10,000 per trip) for travel expenses when you charge at least 75% of the travel expenses to your Scotiabank Momentum Visa Infinite Card.

If you need travel cancellation insurance or additional travel interruption insurance since the value of your trip exceeds the specified amounts, call 1-888-677-7444. Once your insurance application is approved, you will receive an insurance policy outlining benefits, exclusions and restrictions.

Flight Delay Insurance

You may be reimbursed for all eligible reasonable living expenses incurred due to a flight delay of at least four (4) hours or a missed connection resulting in a waiting period of at least four (4) hours, up to $500 per trip for all insured travelers. Simply charge at least 75% of the full cost of your tickets to your Scotiabank Momentum Visa Infinite Card.

Delayed and Lost Baggage Insurance

When you pay for tickets issued by a common carrier with your Scotiabank Momentum Visa Infinite Card, you are eligible for lost or delayed checked baggage insurance.

Compensation for lost baggage is limited to the replacement cost of the covered baggage or the cash value at the time of loss (up to $500).

The carrier must first compensate you for you to be eligible for compensation under the Scotiabank Momentum Visa Infinite Card insurance.

The delayed luggage benefit is limited to $500 for all insured persons on the same trip for the cost of replacing eligible essential items if your checked luggage is not delivered within four (4) hours from your time of arrival at your final destination.

Common Carrier Travel Accident Insurance

When you pay at least 75% of the full cost of your tickets with a common carrier using your Scotiabank Momentum Visa Infinite Card, you, your spouse, and your dependent children automatically receive accidental death or dismemberment insurance of up to $500,000.

This insurance is valid for tickets issued by a common carrier licensed for any mode of transportation such as plane, cruise ship, train, or bus.

Rental Car Collision Loss/Damage Insurance

You are protected against damage and theft if you pay in full for vehicle rental charges with your Scotiabank Momentum Visa Infinite Card and decline the collision damage waiver or loss damage waiver (or any similar provision) offered by the agency at the time of rental agreement.

New Mobile Device Insurance

By charging the purchase of your mobile devices to your Scotiabank Momentum Visa Infinite Card, you can be covered for up to $1,000 if your cell phone, smartphone, or tablet is lost, stolen, accidentally damaged, or suffers a mechanical failure.

Purchase Security Extended Warranty Protection

Most items purchased anywhere in the world are automatically insured against theft, loss or damage as long as the full cost of the item is charged to your Scotia Momentum® Visa Infinite* Card.

The insurance applies for a period of 90 days from the date of purchase and is in addition to any other insurance.

When you charge the full cost of most items to your Scotia Momentum® VISA Infinite* card, extended warranty coverage doubles the original manufacturer’s warranty for up to one year. Items covered by a manufacturer’s warranty repair services of five years or more must be registered within the first year of purchase. Coverage is limited to the lesser of the repair cost, replacement cost, or original purchase price.

Under Purchase Security & Extended Warranty Protection, the guarantee limit is set at $60,000 for life.

Bottom Line

If you prefer cash back over travel points, the Scotiabank Momentum Visa Infinite Card is for you. It is the one that will offer you the most interesting cash back on the market in some purchase categories.
