Buy Points : Get a 40% Bonus When You Buy British Airways Club Avios

Until September 17, 2025, you can buy Avios from the British Airways Club program with a 40% bonus.

This is a promotion that occurs approximately 2-3 times per year. The last one offered a 40% bonus and ended in July 2025.

So if you buy 100,000 Avios, you get a total of 140,000 Avios. It will cost you $2,315 USD, or 1.65 US cents per mile (or approximately 2.28 Canadian cents per mile).

Considering that we value this currency at 1.7 Canadian cents per mile, this is not a great deal. Anything below 1.7 cents per Avios would be a bargain. Anything higher than 1.7 cents is not very profitable.

But this kind of promotion doesn’t happen often, so you might want to take advantage of it! Additionally, members can usually purchase a maximum of 100,000 Avios. During this promotion, the cap is raised to 200,000 Avios.

In any case: buying Avios could help you in case you run out of Avios to book an airline award (and you’ve exhausted all other possibilities for obtaining Avios via credit cards).
