To the point Scotiabank eliminates the annual wait for Momentum cards and adds new accelerated cashback rates.

As of February 1, 2026, Scotiabank has enhanced its Momentum Visa cards by allowing reward redemptions starting at $25 and adding new accelerated rates for food delivery and transportation.

So, no more waiting for the annual cash back redemption every November!

Redeem your Cash Back anytime with Momentum Cards

As of February 1, 2026, you can redeem your cash back rewards as soon as your balance reaches $25, via the Scotia app or Scotia online. This enhancement applies to all cards in the Momentum lineup:

Previously, cardholders had to wait until November each year to automatically receive their cash back, and could do nothing to receive it when they wanted.

New Cash Back Earn Rates for Momentum Cards

Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite: 2% on Food Delivery

The Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite Card adds the food delivery category to earn 2% cash back to its accelerated categories. Here is the new structure:

  • 4%: Groceries and recurring bill payments
  • 2%: Gas, public transit, and food delivery
  • 1%: All other eligible purchases

We particularly recommend this card for services like Chexy, which allows you to pay recurring bills such as rent, municipal taxes, income taxes, or other expenses using a credit card. The 4% cash back exceeds the fees charged by Chexy.

Scotia Momentum Visa: Three New 2% Categories

There is also an improvement in the offer for the Scotia Momentum Visa Card, with public transit, ridesharing, and food delivery added to its 2% cash back accumulation.

The downside is that the annual fee increases from $39 to $49.

  • 2%: Gas, groceries, pharmacies, recurring bill payments, public transit, ridesharing, and food delivery
  • 1%: All other eligible purchases

Scotia Momentum® No-Fee VISA* Card: New 1% Categories

The Scotia Momentum® No-Fee VISA* Card also adds public transit, ridesharing, and food delivery, but at 1%.

  • 1%: Gas, groceries, pharmacies, recurring bill payments, public transit, ridesharing, and food delivery
  • 0.5%: All other eligible purchases

Scotia Momentum Visa for Business*: new 2% categories

Finally, the Scotia Momentum Visa for Business* Card also adds 2% cashback on shipping services and accounting services.

  • 3%: Gas, restaurants, office supply stores, recurring payments, and electric vehicle charging stations
  • 2%: Shipping services and accounting services
  • 1%: All other eligible purchases

Momentum Visa Cards

The annual wait was the main weakness of these cards. With redemptions starting at $25 whenever you want and new categories for transit and delivery, Scotiabank is aligning itself with current market standards.
