To the point Scotiabank eliminates the annual wait for Momentum cards and adds new accelerated cash back earn rates.

Effective February 1, 2026, Scotiabank is enhancing its Momentum Visa cards by allowing rewards redemption from $25 and by adding new accelerated rates for food delivery and transit.

So, no more waiting for the annual cash back redemption every November!

Redeem your Cash Back anytime with Momentum Cards

Starting February 1, 2026, you will be able to cash out your cash back as soon as your balance reaches $25, via the Scotia app or Scotia online. This enhancement applies to all cards in the Momentum lineup:

Previously, cardholders had to wait until November each year to automatically receive their cash back, and could do nothing to receive it when they wanted.

New Cash Back Earn Rates for Momentum Cards

Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite: 2% on Food Delivery

The Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite Card adds the food delivery category to earn 2% cash back to its accelerated categories. Here is the new structure:

  • 4%: Groceries and recurring bill payments
  • 2%: Gas, public transit, and food delivery
  • 1%: All other eligible purchases

Scotia Momentum Visa: Three New 2% Categories

There is also an improvement in the offer for the Scotia Momentum Visa Card, with public transit, ridesharing, and food delivery added to its 2% cash back accumulation.

The downside is that the annual fee increases from $39 to $49.

  • 2%: Gas, groceries, pharmacies, recurring bill payments, public transit, ridesharing, and food delivery
  • 1%: All other eligible purchases

Scotia Momentum® No-Fee VISA* Card: New 1% Categories

The Scotia Momentum® No-Fee VISA* Card also adds public transit, ridesharing, and food delivery, but at 1%.

  • 1%: Gas, groceries, pharmacies, recurring bill payments, public transit, ridesharing, and food delivery
  • 0.5%: All other eligible purchases

Momentum Visa Cards

The annual wait was the main weakness of these cards. With redemption from $25 whenever you want and the new transit and delivery categories, Scotiabank is aligning with current market standards.
