Hilton is accelerating on two fronts. On one hand, the chain is launching the Hilton AI Planner, a digital concierge powered by generative artificial intelligence, accessible directly on hilton.com. On the other hand, Hilton is signing an exclusive franchise agreement with YOTEL, which becomes the first independent brand under the new Select by Hilton banner. These two announcements directly impact the approximately 250 million Hilton Honors members.
Whether you are looking to maximize your Hilton Honors points or expand your accommodation options, these new developments deserve your attention. Here’s what you need to know.
Since March 17, 2026, all visitors to hilton.com can test the Hilton AI Planner. The tool is located on the site’s Locations page, accessible from a computer or tablet.
The principle is simple: you describe what you are looking for (beach destination, family hotel, city getaway) and the AI suggests destinations, compares establishments, and details amenities. All in real-time, within a conversational interface.
Specifically, the tool asks follow-up questions to refine its recommendations. If you mention a trip to Saint Lucia, for example, it will ask if you prefer a lively or quiet atmosphere, then guide its suggestion accordingly.
In parallel, Hilton announced an exclusive franchise agreement with YOTEL. The British brand, founded in London in 2007, becomes the first independent brand to integrate Select by Hilton, a new category designed to welcome established hotel brands while connecting them to the Hilton network.
YOTEL retains its own identity, management, and service style. What changes: access to Hilton’s global distribution system and the Hilton Honors program. As Phil Andreopoulos, CEO of YOTEL, summarized: “What changes for YOTEL is access — not identity.”
The first bookings via Hilton channels are expected by the end of 2026.
For holders of credit cards that earn Hilton Honors points, these two announcements increase the program’s value. The AI Planner simplifies hotel search (even if it doesn’t yet manage points). The addition of YOTEL offers new urban options, particularly in New York and Tokyo — two popular destinations for Canadian travelers.
If you earn American Express Membership Rewards Points transferable to Hilton Honors, the regular transfer bonuses become even more attractive with an expanded network. Also consult our selection of the best credit cards for hotels to maximize your free nights. For example, the American Express Platinum Card® and the Business Platinum Card® from American Express offer Hilton Honors Gold status as a benefit.
The Hilton AI Planner and the partnership with YOTEL are part of the same logic: to make the Hilton network more accessible and useful for its members. The AI tool remains in beta with clear limitations, but it lays the groundwork for more fluid travel planning. The addition of YOTEL concretely expands the portfolio of properties available to Hilton Honors members.
For Canadian travelers who earn points via their best credit cards, these announcements confirm that Hilton Honors remains a program to watch. Hilton also made headlines by renewing its partnership with Small Luxury Hotels of the World, a sign that the expansion strategy continues on several fronts.
