To the point As of today, April 01, 2020, the Moroccan company Royal Air Maroc is a full member of the Oneworld alliance.

A new member at Oneworld

The Moroccan company, Royal Air Maroc, had begun its rapprochement with Oneworld several years ago:

  • Privileged partnership with Qatar Airways (member of Oneworld)
  • Privileged partnership with Iberia (member of Oneworld)
  • The company has signed a letter of intent to join Avios… the points system used by IAG companies (Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia, Vueling)

The timing is not necessarily good since its entire fleet is down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

But, since today April 01, 2020, Royal Air Maroc is the first company of the African continent to join the Oneworld Alliance.

Royal Air Maroc is thus opening the doors of West Africa via its Casablanca hub to Oneworld, whereas until now, this area was only lightly served by airlines such as British Airways or Qatar Airways.

And it is particularly interesting for Canadians because we have a daily direct link between Montreal and Casablanca with Royal Air Maroc.

In fact, we explained how you can use your miles to book an award ticket on this flight.

Elsewhere in North America, Royal Air Maroc serves:

  • Washington
  • New York
  • Miami

Bottom line

A great win for the Oneworld Alliance!

We look forward to seeing the new opportunities offered through other programs such as British Airways Executive Club or AAdvantage to book award tickets on Royal Air Maroc more easily!
