A week after announcing the launch of a joint venture with Air Transat to share their networks, Porter continues its expansion with the announcement of three new round-trip routes to Montreal and Western Canada, plus one between Ottawa and Winnipeg.
With its new Embraer E195-E2 aircraft due for delivery in 2022, and the order for a further 25 aircraft announced last week, Porter now offers destinations such as :
- Canada’s west coast
- the southern United States
- and the Caribbean
Porter - New connections between Montreal and Western Canada
It is now possible to book the new daily round-trip routes linking Montreal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) to Vancouver International Airport (YVR), Calgary International Airport (YYC) and Edmonton International Airport (YEG). These flights will operate from the following dates and times:
|Montreal YUL – Vancouver YVR
|Vancouver YVR – Montreal YUL
|Montreal YUL – Edmonton YEG
|Edmonton YEG – Montreal YUL
|Montreal YUL – Calgary YYC
|Calgary YYC – Montreal YUL
This new service will connect Halifax, Toronto-Pearson and Billy Bishop via Montreal. Porter’s connections to Western Canada are still new, following the recently announced Ottawa-Calgary, Ottawa-Vancouver and Toronto-Vancouver routes.
“Montréal has been an important part of Porter’s network since 2006, and our presence continues to grow. We’re building out YUL with popular destinations and strategic partnerships, so travellers can connect coast-to-coast with an unmatched elevated economy experience.”
Porter - New non-stop flight between Ottawa and Winnipeg
Tickets for the new non-stop flight between Ottawa International Airport (YOW) and Winnipeg Richardson Airport (YWG) are on sale now at the introductory fare of $525. The flight will be offered from May 16, 2024 on a daily basis and the schedule is as follows:
|Ottawa YOW – Winnipeg YWG
|Winnipeg YWG – Ottawa YOW
This new route will allow travellers from Manitoba to stop over in Ottawa on their way to Boston, Charlottetown, Fredericton, Halifax, Moncton, New York, Thunder Bay, Toronto (Pearson and Billy Bishop airports) and St. John’s.
Winnipeg will thus become the 14th destination served by Porter from the nation’s capital.
Consistent connectivity between Winnipeg and Ottawa-Gatineau is paramount for both business and leisure travellers. Porter’s appropriately sized jets, coupled with its robust presence in the National Capital Region, create an optimal environment for success on this key route.
This news follows several other announcements by Porter that have increased its service in Canada over the past year. Combined with the code-share with Air Transat, it will be interesting to monitor flight availability and prices as supply increases among airlines.
You can then reimburse all or part of the cost of your plane ticket. For example, if your Porter ticket from Montreal to Calgary cost $450, you can use :
- 45,000 Membership Rewards points on the American Express Cobalt® Card (or other Membership Rewards credit card)
- 36,000 CIBC Aventura Points with a card like the CIBC AventuraMD Visa Infinite* Card with the current promotion
When it comes to checking in luggage, choosing a seat on board or parking at the airport, there are options to reduce costs. Don’t forget that you can use up to $150 in annual credits on your National Bank’s World Elite Mastercard®.
