WestJet and TELUS partner to offer free in-flight Wi-Fi

To the point WestJet announced on July 24, 2024 a multi-year partnership with TELUS, offering the airline's passengers high-speed internet services.

Starting in December 2024, travelers will have the opportunity to surf the web free of charge thanks to Starlink technology, WestJet said in a press release. This is the first step in the strategic partnership between WestJet and TELUS.

This new experience will be available to WestJet Rewards members and TELUS customers on the ground and in the air, said Zainul Mawji, Executive Vice-President and President, TELUS Consumer Solutions.

Over the coming months, further exclusive benefits will be offered to members of the airline’s frequent flyer program and TELUS customers.

WestJet mentioned that it will be “the largest North American airline and the first commercial airline operating Boeing 737s to offer inflight connectivity powered by the Starlink technology platform”.

Passengers will be able to watch live video or play online games from their devices.

This new platform will be launched before the end of 2024, and will be progressively installed within the WestJet fleet until the end of 2026.

WestJet Rewards Program

Thanks to this partnership with TELUS, WestJet Rewards members will have free access to this new in-flight system. To prepare for your next trip, we invite you to create a WestJet Rewards account online.

This loyalty program allows you to earn and use WestJet Dollars. However, with the UltraBase fare offer, it is not possible to use this program.

You can earn WestJet dollars on your daily spending with the RBC Avion Visa Infinite Card or the RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege Card.

With this strategy, you’ll fill up on Avion points, transferable to the WestJet Rewards program.
