Travel to the Maldives with Aeroplan points

The Maldives are located far… very far from Canada. To get there from Montreal, there must be at least one connection. For example, it could be via Frankfurt (with Lufthansa), Abu Dhabi (with Etihad Airways) or Istanbul (with Turkish Airlines).

To get there, Aeroplan will require a minimum of 70,000 Aeroplan points per person for a return economy flight. For Business Class, a minimum of 100,000 Aeroplan points is required.

On the way back, you could have a long stopover of 18 hours or more to visit Munich! This will cost 70,000 points and $197 in taxes.

If you leave the next day, you could make much of the trip in business class… paying a little more in miles (about 97,000), but a little less in taxes: $144 . As a bonus, you will have a long stopover in Vienna to enjoy the city.

To give you an idea, these 97,000 points can be obtained by subscribing to either :

This is where it may be worthwhile to sign up for a credit card with a high fee in relation to the points earned. The proposed card, the American Express Corporate Platinum Card, costs $499. But in the end, we are talking about a great saving, when we know that these seats in business class cost several thousand dollars.

Bottom Line

As you can see, it’s definitely possible to get a round-trip ticket to the Maldives for 140,000 Aeroplan points or more, depending on the class of travel you choose.

Then, all you have to do is choose the place where you want to be rocked by the waves. Here are our Maldives hotel reviews:
