Shell Canada becomes a partner of the Scene+ loyalty program starting March 3, 2026, in Alberta and May 26, 2026, in the rest of Canada. Scene+ members will be able to earn 1 point per litre on gas and 1 point per dollar on convenience store purchases, while also benefiting from instant savings with Scotiabank and Tangerine credit cards.
This alliance marks a major turning point in the Canadian loyalty program landscape, ending over 30 years of partnership between Shell and AIR MILES. BMO announced today the conversion of the AIR MILES program to Blue Rewards in summer 2026.
With 15 million members, Scene+ is finally answering a long-standing request from its members: adding a fuel partner to its already strong ecosystem in banking, grocery, and entertainment.
The earn rates at Shell are straightforward and rewarding:
These rates apply to all Scene+ members, regardless of the payment method used. Simply present your Scene+ card at the time of purchase to earn points.
For gas, Scene+ represents a significant improvement with double the value on regular gas and the elimination of the minimum purchase. However, for convenience store purchases, AIR MILES retains a theoretical advantage, although Scene+ offers more flexibility without a $5 minimum threshold.
Holders of eligible Scotiabank credit cards and Tangerine will benefit from instant savings on gas. While the exact discount amount has not yet been announced, this discount will be applied automatically when paying with:
Using a Scotiabank Scene+ credit card at Shell allows you to double your earnings: you earn the base loyalty program points PLUS your credit card points. Here are the cards offering the best multipliers on gas:
With the Scotiabank Gold American Express Card, you will earn 4 points per litre (1 point with your Scene+ card and 3 points with the credit card), representing a value of 4 cents per litre of gas.
Shell Go+ allows you to link your Scene+ account and your eligible bank card to pay for everything in one go. This “Single Tap” feature allows you to:
Registration is simple and can be done directly in the Shell Go+ app or on the Shell website.
Scene+ members will be able to redeem their points directly at Shell according to the program’s standard scale:
This uniformity in redemption value is one of Scene+’s major advantages: you don’t have to worry about losing value by redeeming your points for one type of reward over another.
The rollout will occur in two phases:
Shell customers will be able to continue earning and redeeming their AIR MILES until the dates indicated above. It is recommended to redeem your AIR MILES earned at Shell before the transition.
This partnership represents a major milestone for Scene+, making it a truly comprehensive loyalty program covering banking, groceries, entertainment, home improvement, and now fuel. For Scene+’s 15 million members, it’s an opportunity to earn points on almost all everyday purchases, creating an integrated and simplified rewards ecosystem.
