To the point The partnership between Aeroplan and Marriott Bonvoy is expanding: Aeroplan Elite members can now convert their Aeroplan points into Marriott Bonvoy points at a one-to-one ratio.

Convert Your Aeroplan Points Into Marriott Bonvoy Points

Transferring Marriott Bonvoy points to Aeroplan and several other airline partners was already possible. Now, the reverse is only available to Aeroplan members with Elite status.

Points can be transferred from Aeroplan accounts to Marriott Bonvoy accounts on a one-to-one basis. Members can transfer between 500 and 100,000 Aeroplan points per day, up to a maximum of 250,000 points per week. To do so, go to this page.

Convert Your Marriott Bonvoy Points Into Aeroplan Points

To transfer Marriott points to Aeroplan and other airline programs, see our detailed tutorial:

Reminder: Earn Aeroplan Points When You Stay With Marriott Bonvoy

For several years now, members of both programs have also been able to earn up to 2 Aeroplan points for every US dollar spent on an eligible stay at a Marriott Bonvoy hotel. Points are only earned on the room rate, excluding meals or other items.

To start earning Aeroplan points for each stay, update your Marriott Bonvoy profile and select Aeroplan as your earning preference.

Miles can be collected for many other airlines. All the details can be found on this page.

Air Canada and Aeroplan also partner with several other companies that are sometimes overlooked. For example, you can earn Aeroplan points :

  • On your car rentals with Avis and Budget;
  • In numerous hotels such as those of the Accor Group, IHG, Best Western, Choice Hotels, Shangri-La and others;
  • With parking at Montreal airport, Park’N Fly and Park Jet.

You can find all Air Canada and Aeroplan partners on this page.

Should I Transfer My Points?

Milesopedia values a Marriott Bonvoy point at 0.9 cents and an Aeroplan point at 2 cents. Purely mathematically, transferring Aeroplan points to Marriott Bonvoy is not favourable. However, Milesopedia’s valuation is an average and varies according to redemptions.

Valuation is also personal: perhaps you have plenty of Aeroplan points and are short on Marriott Bonvoy points to book the hotel of your dreams. You need to assess your situation and calculate whether the transfer is worth it to achieve what you desire. In any case, we never recommend speculatively transferring points without a specific redemption goal.

And don’t forget that you can also earn Marriott Bonvoy points with all these credit cards.

Bottom Line

Thanks to this new partnership, Marriott Bonvoy and Aeroplan members can convert their points according to their needs, whether for a flight or a hotel stay.
