Some customers who have booked a flight using Aeroplan points can now modify their flights online. Here’s how to check if you have access to this feature.
It seems that this feature is available on the site’s interface in English only for the time being.
First, log in to your Aeroplan account on aircanada.ca, then go to My Bookings and select the reservation you wish to modify.
If you have access to the beta version to modify your booking purchased with your online points, the “Change Flight” box will appear in bold and you will be asked to search for the new itinerary you wish to book.
As with the usual booking process, you will be informed of the options available for your search.
As mentioned, this is the new flight price, not the difference. To see the difference you’ll need to pay in points and cash, go to the payment page.
Once the new route has been selected, you will be taken to the payment page. This is where you can see the difference in points and cash and what you’ll need to pay. Please note that depending on the fare class selected for your original booking, change fees may apply. You will see them appear in the total amount:
If this option is not yet available for your next flight purchased with Aeroplan points, this is normal, as this feature is only available to certain eligible flights (the criteria for which are not yet known). To modify your Aeroplan Points reservation, please contact Customer Service at 1-800-361-373.
This new feature is certainly a welcome addition for travellers who fly using their Aeroplan points. For fare class bookings without change fees, it may be advantageous if points prices drop before the flight date, in order to find the best price. We’ll add more information here when the beta version evolves to the permanent version and details of this feature become available.
