At the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula lies Los Cabos, a Mexican destination prized for its crystal clear beaches and luxury resorts.
The area is also known for its world-class golf courses and excellent seafood restaurants. We enjoy exploring the surrounding mountains, hiking, whale watching and deep sea fishing.
A perfect location for weddings and honeymoons, Los Cabos is also ideal for travelers looking to relax and rejuvenate in a beautiful and luxurious setting. Indeed, the region is becoming increasingly popular as a premier destination for wellness experiences.
The destination’s new “Wellness Champions” campaign presented in Toronto earlier this month took the approach of “Finding Wellness in Los Cabos,” considering 2023 as the year of wellness and sustainability.
The Tourism Office invites visitors to explore wellness on their own terms, taking advantage of its extensive portfolio of customized excursions, unspoiled nature, farm-to-table cuisine and five-star treatments.
“In 2023, Los Cabos will embrace wellness in a way that no other destination has, leveraging our traditions, natural beauty and brand new, tailored experiences to allow our visitors to thrive,” said Tourism Board Executive Director Rodrigo Esponda.
“Community, authenticity, freedom, exploration and balance are the pillars of the Los Cabos experience and at the heart of our approach to wellness in our next campaign.”
“We believe we have refined the typical Los Cabos experience into something that disconnects travelers from the stress and reconnects them with the beauty of this world. We can’t wait for you to experience it.”
In the meantime, here is a list of wellness-oriented experiences you can have in Los Cabos:
Air Canada does not offer direct or indirect flights to Los Cabos from Montreal. However, you can book a direct flight to Mexico City with your Aeroplan points and then book a domestic flight from Mexico City to San Jose del Cabo separately.
A round trip YUL-MEX from May 13 to 19 will cost you 29,000 Aeroplan points + $213 in fees and taxes. Then, you can use travel credit card points to get a statement credit that will cover your domestic flight purchase.
For example, the Scotiabank Passport™ Visa Infinite* Card will allow you to save 2.5% in foreign currency conversion fees on the purchase of your domestic flights in Mexico. And with the welcome offer, you can simply get statement credit to cover your flight costs at the ratio of 1,000 Scene+ points = $10.

A Temazcal ceremony is a ritual honoring the holistic wellness traditions of the indigenous people of Mexico. It may be the oldest treatment on the Baja California Peninsula, but it remains one of the most popular at many of the destination’s most desirable properties.
In a Temazcal ceremony, participants gather in a circular steam pavilion, deprived of light in the hopes of sharpening mental and emotional acuity.
As the relaxing scents of fresh herbs and warm volcanic rocks fill the humid, misty air, a shaman or traditional healer guides participants in reciting mantras.
No two approaches to Temazcal are alike: some shamans take the physical aspects further with ritualized movements and herbal compresses, while others prefer the quieter path of meditation.
This experience is available at JW Marriott, One & Only Palmilla and Pueblo Bonito Pacifica, among others.
Medano Beach is a golden sand beach ideal for wellness activities such as meditation, yoga, walking and swimming. You can also enjoy water activities such as kayaking, snorkeling and windsurfing.
Located about an hour’s drive from Los Cabos, Cabo Pulmo National Park is a great place to connect with nature and recharge. Here you can hike, snorkel or dive in the crystal clear waters of the park, where you will see a variety of fish and corals.
Enjoy the freshest food possible during your rejuvenation stay in Los Cabos. Several farms in rural areas near the main bustling centers of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo have opened farm-to-table dining establishments.
This experience is a great way to savor Baja California cuisine and experience the spirit of the countryside. Places like Flora Farms, Acre and Los Tamarindos even hold cooking classes.
Hydrotherapy can take a myriad of forms: an icy deep pool, a warm waterfall or a herbal-laden foaming spray.
The White Spa Resort Los Cabos offers a complete hydrotherapy circuit designed to stimulate the senses and relax the muscles. Exploiting the dichotomy of hot and cold, guests begin their journey in a sauna before entering an ice room.
After warming up in a hammam, the body is carefully massaged on hot stones before being immersed in sensation pools with pulsating jets.
The tour ends with a dip in a polar pool, increasing circulation and returning nutrient-rich blood to the center of the body.
Other hydrotherapy-inspired approaches are offered at Viceroy Los Cabos and Garza Blanca.
Los Cabos has several other quality spas, most of which are located in luxury hotels.
The spa at One&Only Palmilla in San Jose del Cabo offers a range of luxury spa treatments, such as massages, facials, body wraps and Ayurvedic treatments. Spa facilities include thermal pools, whirlpools, saunas and steam rooms.
