Tangerine Promotion: Save $40 on Baggage Fees

To the point Tangerine launches a promotion offering customers $40 off airline baggage fees. Here are the details.

Your baggage isn’t included for free on your next flight? Take advantage of this limited-time Tangerine promotion!

Details of the Offer

To take advantage of this offer, you must be one of the first 7,500 Tangerine customers to use your Tangerine debit or credit card to make an airline purchase over $39.55.

You will then receive a $40 credit in your account within 60 days of your purchase. This is a one-time credit, so it can only be received once per customer.

The offer, launched on January 3, 2025, is for a limited time only, and will expire once the number of participants has been reached.

If you are not yet a Tangerine customer, it’s easy to open an account online, as the bank has no physical branch.

Is the Offer Worth It?

Although this offer refers only to baggage fees, it is likely to apply to any travel-type purchase made with an airline. This could possibly include the flight, additional costs related to seat selection, food, etc.

If you plan to purchase an entire flight to take advantage of this offer, keep in mind that the insurance coverage will be provided by the credit card used for the payment. Therefore, it might be wise to pay the additional baggage fees separately in a different transaction using your Tangerine credit or debit card.

For example, if your flight is with Air Canada, you can get a free checked bag for you and up to 8 people on your reservation by holding the TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite* Card (welcome offer ends today!).

And if you’re a National Bank World Elite Mastercard cardholder, you’ll benefit from an annual travel credit of $150, enough to reimburse baggage-related expenses.

That said, Tangerine’s current offer is excellent, especially considering that you can become a customer for free.

Bottom Line

This special offer follows recent news that airlines such as Air Canada and WestJet have changed their baggage fees, but it can also be beneficial with all other airlines that charge additional baggage fees.

This promotion is likely to sell out quickly, so take advantage of it before it’s too late!
