Until October 29, 2025, enjoy a bonus of up to 100% when buying IHG One Rewards points. The lowest price per point (0.5 US cents) applies when purchasing 11,000 points or more.
Remember that Iberostar Resorts all-inclusive hotels are part of the IHG hotel chain, allowing you to redeem your IHG One Rewards points for free nights at these all-inclusive hotels!
This is a recurring promotion that returns every month, with a variation in the bonus percentage. The last bonus was also generous and could go up to 100% at the beginning of October 2025.
While there is no longer a credit card linked to the IHG One Rewards program in Canada, it is still possible to accumulate points:
We do not recommend buying points during regular periods. However, it can be advantageous if you plan a specific use in the coming months, especially when the bonus offer can go up to 100%.
You can buy up to 200,000 points per calendar year and receive up to 200,000 bonus points, for a total of 400,000 points. This will cost you US$2,000 (approximately CA$2,520 based on the current exchange rate).
However, for this promotion, you can buy up to 300,000 points.
The points purchase transaction is in U.S. dollars. For Canadian residents, add sales tax (and QST for residents of Quebec).
We recommend using a credit card that does not charge foreign currency conversion fees to save 2.5% in fees on this points purchase, as is always the case with the current promotional offer. Here are the two best cards in Canada:
The answer to this question is… Yes and no.
In Canada, we do not have the advantage of credit cards that allow us to accumulate IHG One Rewards points directly or indirectly (unlike the multiple credit card options to earn Marriott Bonvoy points).
Buying IHG One Rewards points can be a worthwhile solution only when you have a very specific goal in mind.
Milesopedia values IHG One Rewards points at 0.5 US cents (or approximately 0.62 Canadian cents), but with a promotional bonus, their effective value can be much higher.
Buying IHG points can therefore be interesting for some, especially if you have a specific travel goal or if you want to top up your points balance to get a free night.
With the current promotion, you can get up to 100% bonus points, but the offer is targeted, so not all members will necessarily receive the maximum.
If you are not in one of these situations, we advise against buying points and instead suggest prioritizing other programs like Marriott Bonvoy, where it is much easier to earn points through credit cards!
