AIR MILES Announcement

AIR MILES sent an email to its members yesterday announcing a change in their status.

To earn AIR MILES status, simply collect miles during the calendar year. Depending on the level achieved, members receive benefits.

Here is the”Before“:

  Blue Gold Onyx
Miles accumulated between January and December each year For all Between 1,000 – 5,999 6,000+

From now on, you will need to obtain:

  Blue Gold Onyx
Miles accumulated between January and December of each year For all

Between 500 – 4,999

(-500)

5 000 and more

(-1 000)

Therefore, AIR MILES members will only need 500 accumulated miles during the year to achieve Gold status, instead of 1,000 miles. Then, at least 5,000 miles for Onyx status, instead of 6,000 miles.

Good news?

Yes… and no.

Help in obtaining status is always welcome!

But AIR MILES has no choice in the matter. This is because, with the loss of several of its popular partners such as IGA and Bureau en Gros, it will become increasingly difficult to accumulate miles.

Don’t make a special effort to get these statuses, as interest in their benefits is rather lukewarm.

However, you can easily and automatically obtain status simply by holding these AIR MILES credit cards:
