Air Canada and Shoppers Drug Mart have decided to work together to provide customers in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia with the opportunity to take the RT-PCR COVID-19 screening test.
This will be possible before any departure with Air Canada to a destination requiring a negative test so that passengers can comply with international travel requirements.
Many countries now require a pre-departure negative COVID-19 test and we are pleased to facilitate this process for our customers, making their travel experience easier and safer by recommending the RT-PCR test at select Shoppers Drug Mart locations. We believe that testing is one of the keys to protecting employees and customers, and an important step to safely reopen travel around the world, easing travel restrictions by providing alternative testing solutions in managing risk. Dr. Jim Chung, Air Canada's Chief Medical Officer.

This test will be available for customers flying to any destination requiring a negative COVID-19 test, including Hawaii and the Caribbean (namely, the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, Antigua, Barbuda and St-Lucia).
Hawaii has exempted Canadians from the mandatory 14-day quarantine upon arrival, if the negative pre-departure test result is presented. Travellers can visit the Hawaii State website for more information.
Starting December 17, 2020, Air Canada flights will begin from Vancouver to Hawaii, and from Calgary on December 18.
For other clients who would also like to travel to Hawaii, including Quebecers, several other screening options are available, approved by the State of Hawaii.
After the implementation of Air Canada CleanCare+, a comprehensive program of biosecurity measures, it’s a great effort coming from the airline.
Air Canada is commended for its pro-activity in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. We hope that this type of service will be expanded over time across Canada so that everyone can benefit.
