At Milesopedia, we know that every point counts, whether it’s points for travel or points to save on everyday expenses.
Loblaws’ PC Optimum program, available at Maxi and Provigo in Quebec, is one of the best options to earn rewards and save on groceries.
Here are five tricks to earn PC Optimum points faster, which you can then exchange for free groceries.
At Maxi and Provigo, the PC Optimum program does NOT automatically give you points on all your purchases. In fact, points are earned only when purchasing products covered by special offers, personalized offers, or in-store offers.
This particularity of the PC Optimum program still surprises many PC Optimum members. You can spend $200 on groceries and leave with zero points if you haven’t activated your offers or if you haven’t purchased products with bonus PC Optimum points.
Every Thursday morning or before going grocery shopping at Maxi or Provigo, open your PC Optimum mobile app or go to the PC Optimum website to activate your offers.
One of the tips to maximize your PC Optimum points is to combine several offers on the same purchase.
In this example, I have a general offer on eggs: 3,000 points when you spend $20 or more on all eggs, and a personalized offer where I earn 100 points for every dollar spent on eggs.
So, by purchasing $20 worth of eggs, I get both offers for a total of 5,000 PC Optimum points:
It’s as if the eggs cost me $15 in total ($20 minus 5,000 points = $5).
In addition to traditional PC Optimum offers, Maxi offers a dedicated section for digital coupons that provides immediate discounts or bonus points on the purchase of certain products.
In your PC Optimum app, locate the Your Digital Coupons section. Browse the list of available coupons and activate all the coupons that interest you. Then, discounts and points will automatically apply at checkout when purchasing that product.
Plan your shopping accordingly, as end dates may vary for each product. Also, make sure to check the fine print, as some coupons can only be used once.
Several times a year, Maxi hosts its popular Points Days events. These are promotional events that represent the best opportunities to earn PC Optimum points all year round.
Here is an example of the latest promotion:
Plan your purchases accordingly, especially for products with a distant expiration date. And most importantly, focus on products you already consume and don’t buy products just for the points.
Maxi and Provigo accept Visa and Mastercard, but not American Express. PC Finance offers three Mastercard credit cards that earn PC Optimum points:
Each earns more points on purchases made at Maxi and Provigo. Here is the difference in points earned between these three cards per dollar spent on each card:
So, if you make a $100 purchase at Provigo or Maxi and pay with your PC Insiders™ World Elite Mastercard®, you will earn 4,000 PC Optimum points (40 points x $100).
This is in addition to the extra points you would have received through personalized offers, in-store offers, and general offers.
The important thing is to choose a PC credit card that suits you and that you will use responsibly, by always paying the full balance each month, to avoid interest charges that would negate all benefits!
The PC Optimum program rewards those who invest a few minutes each week in planning and optimization.
A person who is a PC Optimum member, activates their offers every week, intelligently combines promotions, and takes advantage of special events is always a winner!
