Since April 23, 2026, Hawaiian Airlines has officially been a member of the oneworld alliance. For Canadian travelers, Hawaiian Airlines’ arrival in oneworld opens up new possibilities: unprecedented destinations in the Pacific, earning and redeeming points on Hawaiian flights, and access to oneworld status benefits aboard an airline renowned for its Hawaiian hospitality.
Hawaiian Airlines becomes the 16th oneworld member airline and the third based in the United States, alongside Alaska Airlines and American Airlines. Specifically, Honolulu is added as a global hub for the alliance. For those collecting Avios or Asia Miles, this news is worth paying attention to.
Hawaiian Airlines’ membership in oneworld stems directly from its acquisition by Alaska Air Group, finalized in 2024. As Alaska Airlines was already a oneworld member, integrating Hawaiian into the same alliance was a logical next step.
All Hawaiian Airlines flights now carry AS (Alaska Airlines) flight numbers. In practice, Hawaiian operates as a sub-brand of Alaska Airlines, while retaining its distinct identity, aircraft, and service. Alaska has confirmed it has no intention of absorbing the Hawaiian brand in the short term.
The two airlines also share a common loyalty program: Atmos Rewards. Members earn and redeem points across the entire Alaska and Hawaiian network, as well as with oneworld partners.
Hawaiian Airlines’ entry into oneworld expands the alliance’s network with previously unavailable destinations. Here are the notable additions:

Avios holders (notably via RBC Avion or American Express Membership Rewards) could already book award seats on Hawaiian Airlines since October 2025, via the British Airways website. These flights appeared under the Alaska brand. Now, they should display directly as Hawaiian Airlines flights.

The Atmos Rewards program is the joint loyalty program of Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines. Members earn and redeem points on both airlines as well as across the entire oneworld network. It is the most advantageous program for frequent flyers on Hawaiian Airlines.
For members of Asia Miles (Cathay Pacific), Japan Airlines Mileage Bank, AAdvantage (American Airlines) or any other oneworld loyalty program, redeeming miles on Hawaiian Airlines is now possible. This is a new development for most of these programs.

Hawaiian Airlines’ entry into oneworld has several concrete implications for Canadian travelers.
Before this membership, booking a flight to the Hawaiian Islands via a oneworld program often required complex arrangements. Now, connections via Seattle, Los Angeles, or New York JFK to Honolulu are directly integrated into the oneworld network. Another development to watch: Alaska Airlines is launching a daily flight between Seattle and London Heathrow in May 2026. The aircraft used is a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, transferred from the Hawaiian Airlines fleet. The slots at Heathrow are borrowed from American Airlines.
