Good news!

Après plusieurs mois de tests de la part d’AIR MILES auprès d’adhérents privilégiés, il est maintenant possible de transférer les milles Argent en Rêves (et vice versa). Le taux d’échange est de 1 pour 1.

The requirement is to have at least Gold status with the AIR MILES program. To qualify for this status, a member must earn at least 500 Miles in a calendar year, from January to December, or be an AIR MILES credit cardholder.

When the program began in 1992, there was only one bank of AIR MILES miles. Then, in 2012, the program decided to have two rewards options:

  • Cash Miles: can be redeemed either at checkout with an AIR MILES partner or for electronic gift cards (95 Miles = $10 off);
  • Dream Miles: to be exchanged for travel and merchandise.

Since then, members have had to carefully choose how to allocate their Miles, as it was not possible to move them from one option to the other. It also created frustration and confusion among members.

This is the first step towards change. Eventually, members will be able to merge their miles into a single miles bank in the coming months, just as they did at the very start of the program!

Transfer between Cash and Dream Miles - Limits according to status

AIR MILES has set limits on the number of miles that can be transferred between Cash and Dream accounts:

  • Members with Onyx status can transfer unlimited miles;
  • Gold members can transfer a maximum of 1,000 miles per calendar year.

Please note that the daily transfer limit is 3,500 miles per day for Onyx members, when done online. To transfer more than the limit, the member must call AIR MILES Customer Service.

You can obtain Onyx status by having the BMO® AIR MILES® World Elite®* Mastercard®*, in particular.

Bottom Line

Asked for a long time, the AIR MILES program makes an excellent choice by combining miles.

This will make the program much more flexible and easier to use for its members. Since its acquisition by BMO last spring, the program has taken several positive steps to regain the trust of its members.
