After an excellent flight aboard the new Air Canada Signature Class from Montreal, I arrived in Vancouver. For this quick one-night stay, I chose the Vancouver Airport Marriott Hotel.
Visit Richmond, the tourist office, had set up a promotion to earn $125 in gift cards for the first night in a selected hotel. This allowed me to stay there at very little cost!
The Vancouver Airport Marriott Hotel is a category 5 hotel in the Marriott Bonvoy program.
The Vancouver Airport Marriott Hotel is 5 minutes away from YVR International Airport.
To get there, I took the hotel shuttle from the domestic departures level.
The Vancouver Airport Marriott Hotel is ideally located for this type of stay when you have a long connection in Vancouver. You can stay there, and you’re only within 25 minutes of downtown Vancouver’s subway systemvia the Canada Line (Richmond-Brighouse station is a 5-minute walk from the hotel).

The Vancouver Airport Marriott Hotel is part of a complex made up of 2 other hotels:
It is located in front of the CF Richmond Centre complex, which boasts many shops.
When I arrived at the Vancouver Airport Marriott Hotel, I was able to go directly to my assigned room using the electronic key from the Marriott Bonvoy mobile application.
However, I still had to stop by the front desk to pick up the $125 gift cards! These cards could be used the next morning to pay for most of the room cost!
Once I got this formality over with, I went u to my room, which ŵas an Executive Suite.
Please note that small tables have been arranged in front of each room to have items delivered at your request (towels, products, food, etc.) without contact! This is well appreciated during COVID-19.
Let’s now enter this Executive Suite.
The living room in the Executive Suite has a sofa bed, which is very practical when you travel with your family (which is often the case with Audrey and our two children). We appreciate having two living spaces, rather than two queen beds.
For this solo trip, I enjoyed the large desk and the very comfortable chair. Please note that Internet access is particularly fast in this hotel.
There is a brand new Nespresso coffee machine… so much so that it wasn’t plugged in. And with no outlet within 2 meters! Strange arrangement that required me to move the machine to another location.
On the wall, there are electrical and USB sockets: quite practical for my office installation!
A welcome gift, always much appreciated as an Elite member, was brought to me shortly after my arrival.
The furniture design surrounding the office has been well thought out with all the usual necessities:
In this room, a door leads to a small balcony overlooking the parking lot and other surrounding hotels. I’ve seen better views, but at least there’s no one opposite!
Let’s move on to the bedroom, which has a king size bed. I particularly appreciate the brightness when I arrive. There is a television screen identical to the one in the living room. You can even log in with your Netflix account.
A desk is also present, but the chair provided is less comfortable for working.
The bathroom is in the living room. It is very modern and has a large shower. It contains all the accessories (shampoo, shower gel).
I take advantage of being alone to go to the gym, something I rarely have time to do when I travel with my family!
Due to the COVID-19 context, only 2 people are allowed in the gym at the same time. You have to get a special key from the reception desk to ensure access. You are limited to one hour to use the gym.
I was alone for the entire time.
The equipment is modern. A few machines have been voluntarily taken out of service to ensure social distancing.
Access to the outdoor swimming pool is from the gym. There are several deckchairs, as well as a whirlpool bath. I had the chance to swim there by myself!
On the lobby level, we find the hotel bar and restaurant. It’s very pleasant, with many televisions for those who love sports: baseball, tennis, football. This will delight the few airline crew members who are staying at the hotel.
These are really pleasant and bright living spaces!
Thanks to my Marriott Bonvoy status, I have free breakfast. During this COVID-19 pandemic, it is served at the table (and not as a buffet as is normally the case).
Many classic dishes are available, and I chose the Good Start Breakfast (granola, fresh fruit, bagel).
It was an excellent stay at the Vancouver Airport Marriott Hotel, which perfectly fulfilled its vocation for this short stopover at YVR!
A small mention, also very positive for the Managing Director, Yannick Simovich, who made sure that my stay went perfectly. He even offered me a taxi to the airport, sincde I missed the shuttle by 5 minutes (the shuttle goes every 30 minutes)!
