The city of Dubai is the ideal destination for those who are passionate about hospitality or entertainment. When we travel, there is no way we”re staying in the same hotel for the whole stay.
After having stayed for 3 nights at the W Dubai on the Palm, tested by Audrey, we decided to spend 2 nights at La Ville Hotel & Suites City Walk which is under the Autograph Collection banner.
Looking to book for New Year’s Eve, the rates were high, and the cost of a night was retailing at AED 2,080 ($725). We have opted to use the free night certificate up to 40,000 points, which we got thanks to our Titanium status.
For the second night, I bought extra points by taking advantage of a Marriott promotion that offered 50% bonus points. The hotel is a category 6 hotel, so the rate is usually 50,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night, but to my surprise, we were able to get the low season rate (40,000 points per night).
Our room cost us 20,000 points a night. During our stay, we used the Marriott Bonvoy® American Express®* Card to earn 5 points per dollar for dinner at the hotel!

La Ville hotel is located in the heart of the commercial area called City Walk where you can find many restaurants, cafes and luxury stores. It is a few minutes walk from the The Green Planet, a tropical forest in a biodome with birds and reptiles.
The hotel is conveniently located near the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall and the central artery, Sheikh Zayed Road. However, the nearest subway station is about a 30-minute walk away.
When we arrived at La Ville Hotel & Suites City Walk, our room was ready. Unfortunately, being New Year’s Eve, the hotel was full and we did not get an upgrade despite our Titanium status.
In addition to having breakfast offered thanks to our status, we had the choice between 1,000 bonus points or drinks and a cheese plate. We chose the points!
A few minutes after our arrival, we realized that one of our bags, which had our computer, was missing. The receptionist directly contacted the cab driver and then the W The Palm that we had just left.
More fear than harm: our luggage had stayed behind at the W in front of the lobby. The hotel arranged for the transfer of our luggage and a few hours later it was in our room. We really appreciated the service offered and the responsiveness of the receptionist, who was able to reassure us by explaining that it was very rare not to find lost things in Dubai.
We had booked a room with 2 double beds. Above the bed, you can’t miss the illustration of the Dubai City Walk and the beautiful ceiling.
We appreciated the small lounge area to relax and drink a coffee (not Nespresso coffee but Illy). In the cupboard is a plastic-protected tray containing a coffee-making set and a selection of teas.
Also available were a safe, a refrigerator, an ironing board and an iron.
All in marble, the bathroom is very beautiful but not very practical when sharing the room with friends. Indeed, the toilets are located at the back with a glass door. Although it was smoked glass, it was still a bit see-through.
The shower and bath are built in one block, separated only by glass with the rest of the bathroom. Unfortunately, the glass is not enough to protect from splashes and we quickly end up mopping the floor with the remaining towels.
Breakfast is served at Chival Global Social between 6:30 am and 11 am. Elite members can enjoy an all-you-can-eat buffet and à la carte choices.
At the buffet, you will find mainly juices, yoghurts and pastries. À la carte options include continental breakfast, French toast, eggs Benedict and more.
If you don’t get free breakfast with status, it’s $17-$25, depending on your choices. You can choose to have breakfast both inside and outside.
In addition to the Chival, you can eat at the Lobby café, have a drink at the Grapeskin bar or Le Look Up bar, and finish with a good meal at the Grill & Bar Graze.
On the fifth and top floor, there is the pool and a bar, Rooftop Le Look Up. On the pool side, we enjoy a beautiful view of the Burj Khalifa and, on the bar side, we can see the Persian Gulf in the distance.
Several cabanas and deckchairs are available around the pool, but it is sometimes difficult to find space, considering how busy it is.
The fourth floor ois ideal for sportsmen. There is a mix of sports equipment for both cardio and weight training. All of the equipment is relatively new, as the gym does not seem to be visited very often. I never saw anyone there during my stay.
For its location, its swimming pool, its breakfast and the quality of its service, the hotel La Ville City Walk is for me a sure value to stay in the city center of Dubai. If you prefer more intimate hotels, I highly recommend this establishment.
We also appreciated the hotel’s organization of a PCR screening test for COVID-19 in preparation for our return to Canada. A team came directly on site to perform the test in a meeting room. We received our test in 12 hours and paid no more than other centers.
