What is Aeroplan HotelSavers?

The Aeroplan HotelSavers platform was launched in October 2022. It’s a hotel reservation platform that enables Aeroplan members to book stays at advantageous points rates. Similar to the old Marriott Bonvoy program, hotels are divided into eight categories and point price ranges:

HotelSavers Aeroplan - The promotion

Until September 30, 2024, Aeroplan Members can earn up to 50,000 points when they redeem their points for a hotel stay through HotelSavers.

For a hotel stay booked with Aeroplan points on HotelSavers, get back :

10,000 points on redemptions over 40,000 points;
25,000 points on redemptions of more than 80,000 points;
50,000 points on redemptions of more than 150,000 points.

To activate the offer, you must register on this page. Stays must be completed by February 28, 2025.

Redeeming exactly 40,000 points is equivalent to a 25% discount on the cost of the hotel, and redeeming 150,000 points is equivalent to a 33% discount. Redemptions can be for a single night or several, but must be made in a single transaction to qualify for the discount.

What’s more, this promotion combines with the special offer of a fourth night free when booking with points for Aeroplan co-branded credit card holders. And if you have Aeroplan Elite status, you get an additional 2,500 Aeroplan points.

Is it worth it?

It depends. Take, for example, the Hotel Napoleon Paris from Preferred Hotels and Resorts: a night costs 93,300 Aeroplan points or $1,611. Under this promotion, the discount would be 25,000 points, for a net cost of 68,300 points. The valuation calculation yields almost 2.4¢ per point, an excellent use for an Aeroplan hotel reservation.

According to Milesopedia’s estimate, an Aeroplan point is worth approximately 2 ¢ when exchanged for flights. However, this figure rises to 0.8¢ on average when points are used for hotel reservations. In other words, it’s often more advantageous to use Aeroplan points to book flights rather than hotels.
