Note: Air Canada invited milesopedia to this media pre-opening event. Unfortunately, following instructions from Quebec and Canada authorities regarding unnecessary travel due to COVID-19, we chose to cancel our participation in this event.
So Air Canada sent us the photos you’ll find in this post.
Air Canada opened its first Signature Suite in Toronto at the end of 2017.
At the time, the airline made no secret of its intention to open a Signature Suite in other hubs across Canada. This is now the case with this new Signature Suite at Vancouver Airport (YVR). Air Canada presented it at a pre-opening event, and it is now opened to Signature customers since today, March 14, 2020.
Andrew Yiu, Air Canada’s Vice President of Products invited the media to meet award-winning Canadians for the refined design and exclusive culinary selection offered to Air Canada Signature customers at Vancouver International Airport.
Vancouver’s new Air Canada Signature Suite is located at departures level, opposite to Gate 52 at Pier D. The Signature Suite is located above Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge and offers great views of the tarmac.
Like the Signature Suite in Toronto, the Vancouver Signature Suite is only accessible to selected passengers:
Thus, it is NOT possible to access the Signature Suite with a Reward flight ticket, travelling in Canada or to the United States, or in economy class or Premium Economy. No credit card nor an Altitude status allows access to the Signature Suite. These passengers will be redirected, if eligible, one floor below to the Maple Leaf lounge.
Air Canada wishes to maintain the exclusive character of the Signature Suite for its “paid passengers.”
Air Canada chose some quality materials and fabrics to highlight its distinguished and refined image within business travellers, particularly in the United States.
The Vancouver Signature Suite covers approximately 4,400 square feet.
It can accommodate seating for up to 105 premium customers. However, this figure will rarely be reached given the different departure times of Air Canada’s intercontinental flights from Vancouver.
The Signature Air Canada menu, both on the ground and in-flight, is created by acclaimed Vancouver-Chef David Hawksworth.
This menu is complimentary offered, in addition to the buffet available throughout the day.
It is also possible to enjoy complimentary drinks, including High quality spirits supplied by the airline’s partner Diageo, Moët & Chandon Champagne (both brut and rosé available) and Signature cocktails.
The meal can be taken through a table service. You will find many tables throughout the Signature Suite, like an upscale restaurant rather than an airport lounge.

With this type of refined service, Air Canada differentiates itself from other North American airlines, especially within business travellers.
After Toronto and Vancouver, a Signature Suite is now expected in Montreal!
