To the point Priority Pass, the service offering access to more than 1,000 airport lounges worldwide, has announced to its customers the increase in the cost of access.

US$35 instead of US$32

From October 1, 2023, access to Priority Pass member airport lounges will cost US$35 / visit instead of US$32 / visit. As a reminderPriority Pass to access the lounge at this “preferential” rate.

Cards offering Priority Pass membership

In Canada, there are 3 levels of card offerings that offer Priority Pass:

  • Cards offering Priority Pass membership only: each visit will cost US$35 from October 1, 2023.
  • The cards offer Priority Pass and a certain number of annual admissions. Beyond the quota offered, a fee of US$35 per visit will apply from October 1, 2023.
  • Cards offering Priority Pass membership and unlimited annual admissions for the cardholder AND one guest. More than 2 people will be charged US$35 per person from October 1, 2023:

With this rate change, it may become increasingly attractive to switch to cards offering unlimited access if you travel frequently, such as the Platinum CardMD from American Express and the Business Platinum CardMD from American Express. If this is an option that interests you, be sure to apply for one or other of these cards before the changes take effect on September 26, 2023; you’ll come out ahead.

Bottom Line

Several other credit cards offer access to airport lounges through different programs, such as Dragonpass.

This price increase is not surprising, given the current economic climate. The last increase was on October 1, 2018, when the visit fee rose from US$27 to US$32. This time, Priority Pass has decided to increase the price by US$3, compared with US$5 five years ago.
