To the point Until October 3, 2025, WestJet is offering its members a 50% bonus when they buy points. Here are the details and whether it's worth it.

WestJet Rewards is launching a special offer that will give you a 50% bonus when you buy WestJet points. To take advantage of it, you must be a loyalty program member and go to the WestJet points purchase page. This offer ends on October 3, 2025.

Offer Details

WestJet Rewards members will get a 50% bonus when they buy WestJet points. The minimum purchase is 2,500 points and the maximum is 500,000 points.

For example, if you buy 10,000 WestJet points, it will cost you $200 and you’ll get a 5,000-point bonus (50%), for a total of 15,000 WestJet points:

You can purchase up to 500,000 WestJet points per calendar year.

For your information, sales taxes are added to your purchase if you use a Canadian address. If you use a U.S. address, there are no sales taxes.

Please note: Purchases are made via Points.com, a site external to WestJet. This will not count as an eligible purchase made with WestJet.

Is This Offer Worth It?

The WestJet Rewards program is easy to calculate: according to Milesopedia’s semi-annual estimate, 1 WestJet point is worth 1 cent.

At the current price and with the 50% bonus on WestJet points purchase, each WestJet point costs you 1.33 cents ($200 divided by 16,000 points, based on the example above) before taxes. If you buy a WestJet point for more than 1 cent, it’s not worth it, and you lose out. If you buy a WestJet point for less than 1 cent, take advantage of it!

Unfortunately, this promotion is not an attractive offer. However, it can be very useful if you need to book a flight quickly, especially if you want to try out their newly upgraded Boeing 737 aircraft!

A better alternative would be to sign up for the WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard to get the welcome offer that will save you money on your next WestJet flight and enjoy the following benefits:

With the WestJet World Elite Mastercard‡ RBC®, you can earn up to 70,000 WestJet dollars as a welcome bonus:

  • 30,000 WestJet points after your first purchase
  • 30,000 WestJet points when you spend $5,000 in the first three months
  • 10,000 additional WestJet dollars after the first anniversary of the card

With the WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard, you get a travel companion voucher redeemable for a round-trip flight at a reduced rate. What’s more, your purchases bring you one step closer to a status lift with WestJet.

Also, the primary cardholder and up to 8 guests benefit from free check-in of the first bag on WestJet flights.

With the WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard, you earn 2 WestJet points per dollar of purchase when you buy a flight, a WestJet or Sunwing vacation package, and 1.5 WestJet points on everyday purchases.

You’ll also benefit from a wide range of insurance plans : Out-of-Province/Country Emergency Medical Insurance, Travel Accident Insurance, Trip Interruption Insurance, Flight Delay and Emergency Purchases Insurance, Hotel/Motel Burglary Insurance, and Rental Vehicle Collision/Loss Damage Insurance.

Bottom Line

This WestJet points purchase promotion is only beneficial for certain situations.

If you fly frequently with WestJet, we recommend applying for the WestJet RBC Mastercard or the WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard to take advantage of welcome offers and save on your next flight.
