Tutorial Guide: Save on Hotels with Points
To the point Here is my review of The Mira Hong Kong, a hotel under the Design Hotels banner in Kowloon, part of the Marriott Bonvoy program.

After spending a few days at the Courtyard Hong Kong on the main island, I let myself be tempted by the discovery of The Mira Hong Kong hotel on the other side of the bay in Kowloon. This hotel is a member of Design Hotels and is classified in the premium category. It was a first for me to stay at a property under this banner.

The Mira Hong Kong - Booking

Depending on the period, this hotel costs between 30,000 and 42,000 points per night. For this booking, the cash price of $225 per night (HK$1320) was more attractive than the point value. So, I preferred to book in cash and save my points.

The Mira Hong Kong - Location

Mira Hong Kong is located in the heart of the action on Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui. It is close to the subway station of the same name as well as the East Tsim Sha Tsui station. The hotel is integrated into the Mira shopping center. The hotel’s elevator to the upper floors is also connected to the shopping center.

The Mira Hong Kong - Check-in

As soon as I arrived in the lobby, the doorman took care of my luggage and directed me to the reception. There were a lot of people waiting, but luckily I was able to cut down on the wait thanks to the line for Marriott Bonvoy members.

At this hotel, it is not possible to check in online via the Marriott Bonvoy app. After the formalities and taking a deposit on my credit card, I learn the hard way that breakfast and access to the lounge are not offered to platinum and superior elite members in Design Hotels, but only a bonus of points and a small box of chocolates from the COCO boutique (which is in the lobby).

Check-in time is from 3:00 pm. Having arrived at 3:30 pm, I expected to have my room as soon as I arrived, but I had to wait 1 hour more because no room was available.

I had originally booked a Studio room and got an upgrade to a Parkview room. Beyond the view of Kowloon Park, the room is more spacious (27m2) than the Studio room (20m2).

The room is very well designed and functional, but the furniture is starting to get old.

The room is equipped with a safety deposit box and a mini-bar ($).

The bathroom is located in the hallway of the room entrance. On the left, there is the sink area and on the right, there is a shower and a bathtub and the toilet. The bathroom and bedroom area can be separated by a door on railing, as well as the bay window separating the bathtub has a blind.

The Mira Hong Kong - Other services

The Mira Hong Kong - Pool

The pool is open from 6:30 am to 10:00 pm (children are not allowed after 8 pm). The pool is very large, which is very convenient if you want to do laps. Also, a whirlpool is available. The locker rooms are also equipped with a whirlpool, a sauna and a steam room.

The Spa in front of the locker rooms opens from 10 am until the pool closes.

The Mira Hong Kong - Gym

The gym is located in the same building as the pool, so it is not accessible 24/7, but it follows the same schedule as the pool.

The Mira Hong Kong - My general impression

My stay at the Mira Hong Kong will not remain memorable although the hotel is very beautiful and well located. Checking in and waiting for my room did not leave me with a good memory.

Also, once we got to the room, we had to call housekeeping because the mirrors and glass in the bathroom were full of fingerprints. Other than that, the room was comfortable and the pool really appealed to me.
