The V Hotel Dubai, Curio Collection by Hilton, is a stylish and trendy five-star hotel located on the banks of the Dubai Canal. It was a W hotel belonging to the Marriott group, which Hilton recently took over.
With easy access to the Pearl, a unique water show, and a host of facilities and services, this hotel is ideal for business and leisure travellers.
We booked a few days before our stay for a deluxe room with two queen beds and were able to take advantage of a room upgrade as well as complimentary breakfasts due to our Hilton Honors Diamond status.
Know that you can easily achieve Hilton Honors Gold status (also offering complimentary breakfasts) with the American Express Platinum Card® or the Business Platinum Card® from American Express.
You’ll find prices starting at $400 a night or 70,000 Hilton Honors points.
Here is some information about the hotel:
The hotel is located in a central area of Dubai, in Al Habtoor City, close to several points of interest and restaurants. Enjoy the unique La Perle water show, set on an artificial stage. The entrance is direct from the Hotel V.
The Dubai Mall, the world’s largest shopping mall with over 1,200 stores and restaurants, and the Burj Khalifa , the world’s tallest tower with breathtaking views over the city, are both just a 15-minute drive away.
If you haven’t rented a car, use a public transport app like Careem or Uber to get around easily, and download The Entertainer app for deals and discounts on restaurants and attractions.
Check-in takes place on the 7th floor, where you are greeted by friendly, professional staff. The process is quick and easy. Once finished, a member of staff takes care of the luggage and accompanies you to your room, giving you the latest information, such as the location of restaurants and swimming pools.
You can recognize the style cues of the old W with the different textures on the elevator walls, for example, or in the corridors on the upper floors. The style has remained contemporary, with surprising works of art and colourful decor to appeal to a younger clientele and young entrepreneurs.
Renovations were carried out in 2023 and have involved modernizing equipment and refreshing and reconfiguring spaces.
As for the suite, we were surprised to get an upgrade to the Vantage suite (two notches up), and our children even more so when they saw the enormous round bed we’d never had as travellers.
The hotel offers a variety of room types:
More specifically, our suite is organized into two rather dark, simply furnished spaces:
However, the round family bed is not ideal for a restful night’s sleep if some members tend to move around at night or if the children are large (over 10).
We had an outstanding welcome tray with chocolates.
Several small spaces are surprising, such as the somewhat narrow layout of the corner closets, open access to the left of the shower leading to the bedroom (even though a main door closes it off on the right), or another unnecessary corner void near the bay window. There are no doors between the bedroom and the bathroom.
Finally, some finishes could have been redone, such as the joints.
The bathroom remains beautiful and modern, with an oval bathtub, rain shower and two-sink countertop, all overlooking a beautiful view of the hotel’s outdoor swimming pools. A colourful photo enlivens the room.
Finally, as there is no door between the bathroom and the bedroom, you must remember to close the blinds in the bathroom at night if you don’t want to be woken early by daylight.
Guests can enjoy international cuisine at the V Hub on the 7th floor of Level Seven’s reception area or take a break at the nearby V lounge.
Hotel V offers the Summer Place on the 31st floor, which doubles as a bar and lounge, serving sophisticated Asian cuisine in a warm atmosphere ideal for cocktails or an evening with a DJ.
The V Hotel Dubai boasts a spacious, members-only executive lounge on the 30th floor, with panoramic views of the city. This elegant space is ideal for relaxing after a long day of sightseeing or work.
You can enjoy delicious evening gourmet bites and table service for drinks.
We also enjoyed breakfast here, as the room was bright and the food was delicious. We ordered some sweet and savoury dishes à la carte in addition to the buffet.
Having access to complimentary breakfasts is ideal for a family and can be achieved through Hilton Honors Gold Status offered with the American Express Platinum Card® and the Business Platinum Card® from American Express.
The hotel has several swimming pools, each with its own distinct atmosphere.
A more natural one with views of the surrounding towers, such as the JW Marriott Marquis, and a green setting. There’s also a sheltered hot tub and kids’ club.
You can relax by the second pool for a more festive, contemporary atmosphere, with the V Deck bar, cabanas and a DJ booth. The whirlpool on this side was under repair when we visited.
The gym is located on the reception level and is equipped with a wide range of cardio and weight-training equipment.
Finally, the hotel offers a kids’ club on the 7th floor, close to the swimming pools, and another on the 31st floor with video and other games.
The V Hotel Dubai is an excellent choice for young travelers looking for a stylish, trendy hotel with a wide range of quality facilities and services. The location, attentive service and atypical rooms make this hotel an ideal base for exploring central Dubai.
