Tutorial Guide: Save on Hotels with Points
To the point The Queenstown Heritage is a beautiful hotel located in the city of Queenstown in New Zealand. Here's why you should stay there.

The Queenstown Heritage is located in the hills and offers a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains. A hotel where we stayed for 3 days, of which here is a presentation.

Reservation at the Queenstown Heritage Hotel

We booked our stay at the Queenstown Heritage Hotel on the Booking.com platform. In February 2020, we had obtained a deluxe family room at a cost of $600 CAD for 3 nights (taxes included) or about $200 per night.

We then used our HSBC points on this expense.

It is important to know that staying in Queenstown is rather expensive depending on the season as it is a very busy place. Most tourists stop in this town before heading north to the fjords of Milford Sound.

Unfortunately, at the time of our passage, the weather conditions made that the only road to go to Milford was destroyed. So we made a bigger stop in Queenstown like many other tourists, waiting for the reopening, and took advantage of it a bit more to walk around this city.

Exclusive offers are available by registering with Heritage Rewards. These offers are available at participating Heritage Hotels and CityLife Hotels in New Zealand.

Location of Queenstown Heritage

The hotel is located 25-30 minutes from the center and has free parking (reservation required). Since we had our rental car, this was not a problem and we always found parking near the playground in the center.

I was also able to walk downtown with the kids, the walk along the lake is very pleasant.

We loved the city of Queenstown for its atmosphere, its little restaurants by the lake, its playground for children, and its surrounding nature.

Don’t hesitate to read our other articles on the subject, where I relate our itinerary in New Zealand with our family. This is such a beautiful destination!

Hotel reception

Once parked in the parking lot, an elevator allows us to go to the reception desk inside. A small wait, the hotel is very busy when we pass. Probably related to the fact that people stay in Queenstown, waiting for the road to Milford Sound to reopen.

It is possible to take a break in a small lounge near the reception. The dining room is across the hall on the same floor. The facilities on the upper floors are somewhat dated but the rooms have been renovated.

Here are the different types of rooms offered:

  • Deluxe room
  • Family room deluxe
  • Executive deluxe room
  • Studio suite
  • Suite with lake view
  • Suite, 2 bedrooms
  • Suite, 2 rooms with lake view

Our room

Our room was renovated, elegant and modern with two single beds and a queen bed, perfect for our family. The space was decent with a desk and a TV on the wall.

Bathroom

The bathroom on the other hand was not the most recent but was still decent. However no bathtub, only a shower. It’s a little more problematic with children.

Besides that, we had all the necessary: sheets, safe, ironing board. No coffee machine but a kettle with soluble coffee and tea bags, and small snacks when needed (in surplus of course).

Hotel services

We didn’t try the breakfast service, preferring to eat out, but the atmosphere seemed good and the room regularly crowded.

We were able to enjoy the jacuzzi next to the pool. The temperature outside was a bit cool, but we still saw people swimming at the pool.

Finally, for those who do not want to exercise and for whom nature is not enough, the hotel offers a well-equipped fitness room.

Another surprise, as we wandered around the hotel, was this beautiful terrace offering a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains.

Our overall impression of Queenstown Heritage

The Queenstown Heritage is a very pleasant, family-friendly hotel offering professional service. Its only drawback, for us, is its location far from the center.
