Due to my late night arrival in Mexico, I decided to make a stop at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Cancun Airport before heading to Playa del Carmen the next day. Thanks to the hotel’s free airport shuttle, I was able to save on transportation.
My stay at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Cancun Airport cost me $177 for one night in a room with a king bed, though I was able to get a suite upgrade thanks to my Platinum status. However, it is possible to find a better price, depending on the season. There is also a tax of 80 Mexican pesos, or $6 CAD per night, applicable in all accommodations in the Quintana Roo region.
In points, the rates are around 16,000 points per night, which is reasonable. Depending on your dates, it is worth calculating which option is best for you.

The Fairfield Inn & Suites Cancun Airport is located 6 km from Cancun International Airport (CUN) and about 20 minutes from downtown Cancun by car.
The hotel offers a complimentary airport shuttle service available 24/7, shared with the Courtyard Cancun Airport Hotel, located next door.
As for the surroundings, you will find many amenities right next to the hotel such as a pharmacy, a convenience store, an ATM and a few restaurants, which I found were very useful to start my trip.
A few days before my arrival, I received an email with all the necessary information to use the shuttle service upon my arrival. I simply had to send a message via WhatsApp to the number listed that I had arrived (using the airport Wi-Fi), and then I was directed to the meeting point at the airport exit.
Everything went very smoothly and I arrived at the hotel in just ten minutes. For those who need to use the hotel shuttle to get to the airport, there is no need to make a reservation as the shuttle operates every 30 minutes. You just have to show up in the lobby 10 minutes in advance.
The check-in went very well, they even spoke to me a little in French, a rare thing in Mexico.
Due to my Platinum Elite status, I was informed that I would receive a gift of points, as the lunch was already included in my reservation. I was also offered a non-alcoholic welcome cocktail, a very refreshing treat after a long day of transportation.
I was also informed of a suite upgrade, which I had not requested beforehand, so it was a nice surprise. At first glance, the hotel is very spacious and the staff is very courteous.
Since I am enjoying a Platinum Marriott Bonvoy status for the first time this year, receiving my first suite upgrade was a great experience.
The style of the room was modern and sleek, with plenty of space.
The suite consisted of a sitting area with a large flat screen TV, a desk and a chair.
There was also a wardrobe, a mini-fridge, a coffee machine, a safety deposit box, and bottled water. Another flat screen TV was placed in front of the bed.
The view was simply of the surroundings, nothing special but that is to be expected with airport hotels.
The bathroom was large, with a walk-in shower, hygiene products and a hair dryer.
Breakfast is served from 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Cancun Airport in buffet style, and is included with all reservations, regardless of status.
They served a little bit of everything: fruits, cereals, hot buffet with eggs and sausages, waffle station, syrup, jams and peanut butter, breads, pastries, and also some Mexican specialties like chilaquiles and frijoles. And of course, hot sauces.
It may not have been the most exquisite breakfast of my life; the juices were very sweet and they only served filter coffee, but it was still very good for a free breakfast and there were plenty of options.
The Fairfield Inn & Suites Cancun Airport has a pool open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. with a shallow end for kids and a hot tub section. Lounge chairs are available and towels are also offered.
The hotel’s restaurant “Deli” offers a menu available for lunch and dinner from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm. The hotel bar is also open from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm. You can consult the different menus here.
Next to the reception is a “Corner Market”, with essentials as well as some ready-to-eat items, a microwave and a small oven.
The hotel has a fitness room with a good variety of free weights and machines to work out. The room is accessible at all times.
Very spacious, the Fairfield Inn & Suites Cancun Airport is a pleasant and comfortable hotel to begin or end a stay in Mexico. With suites available, free breakfast and a pool, this is a great hotel for families.
As for me, I took advantage of a late checkout at 4pm from my room, a privilege given by my Platinum status, to spend my work day there. The Wi-Fi was very fast! I recommend this hotel to couples, families and business travelers alike. At the end of my trip, I stayed at the Courtyard Cancun Airport, the neighboring hotel sharing the same airport shuttle. Here is my review of this hotel:
