The Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel is the perfect place for budget guests who don’t want to sacrifice their desire for luxury.
Booking
I particularly chose the Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel because of its price, which was more than reasonable for a hotel in this category.
The cash price was $167 a night, compared with the average of $500 a night for a hotel in the same category, but located in downtown Amsterdam.
The hotel required 54,000 Bonvoy points per night. I chose to pay in cash with my Marriott Bonvoy® American Express®* Card.
Arrival
Location
Located less than 7 km from the airport, the Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, offers a free shuttle service from the airport to the hotel and vice versa. The service operates between 4 a.m. and 11.15 p.m., and takes 20 minutes from the airport to Amsterdam Central Station.
Check-in and Lobby
The welcome from the reception staff was very warm, and as a bonus, one of them spoke French. As a Platinum member, I was entitled to an upgrade to a superior suite on my first stay and to a junior suite on my second.
Extras are available for members with Platinum status and above:
- The choice between 1,000 Marriott Bonvoy points or free breakfast for the stay.
- A box of chocolate
- A coupon for a free beverage (coffee, tea, soft drinks, wine and beer at the Corendon Bar & Bistro)
- The “Daily Bonvoy Elite Borrel”: a get-together between Elite members for a drink hosted by the hotel every day between 5.30 and 6 p.m.
The hotel lobby is very large with high ceilings. It’s adjacent to the Bar & Bistro, so there’s plenty of space for waiting.
Bedroom
The superior suite is spacious and has everything you need for a pleasant stay: coffee machine, two TVs, armchairs and storage space.
The bedroom portion features a king bed with TV and workstation, and on the other side of the wall, a lounge corner with armchairs and TV. The highlight of this suite is undoubtedly the large bathtub on a raised floor in front of the suite’s many windows.
The bathroom is truly impressive, featuring a modern design, a corner shower, and high-quality personal care products.
Restaurant
Corendon All You Can Eat Restaurant
The Corendon All You Can Eat Restaurant is the hotel’s main restaurant. As its name suggests, it’s a buffet restaurant offering international cuisine at a fixed price. The price is 36.95 euros per person from Sunday to Thursday, and 39.95 euros per person on Fridays and Saturdays. In addition to the buffet, the price also includes unlimited soft drinks, wine and beer. Opening hours are from 5 pm to 10 pm, and you have a maximum of 2 hours in which to eat. Reservations are strongly recommended. The restaurant has a beautiful terrace overlooking the Corendo Boeing 747.
This restaurant also serves buffet-style breakfast from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on weekdays, and from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on weekends. Breakfast is free for Platinum members and above, otherwise it costs 19 euros per person.
My experience in this restaurant has been positive. Although the price of the evening buffet is a bit steep, the inclusion of unlimited beer and wine pays for itself. For lunch, variety is also present, but depending on the time of day, the plates are often empty and not quickly replenished. We often had to remind them.
Corendon Bar & Bistro
Open daily from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., Corendon Bar & Bistro offers a variety of cuisine usually found in … bistros. It also converts into a café and bar.
Mondi SkyBar 747
Located on the 9th floor, Mondi SkyBar 747 has its own elevator. A word of advice: as soon as you press the “big button” in front of the window, take out your cell phone in video mode, because the ride is well worth it. In addition to the many cocktails on offer, Caribbean cuisine is also on the menu. The Mondi SkyBar 747 features a terrace overlooking Amsterdam Schiphol airport. Prices are reasonable for this kind of place, and parking is free for the first four hours. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays and for private events. Variable opening hours can be viewed on the hotel’s website. Even for an evening drink, reservations are strongly recommended.

Around the Hotel
The Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel is located in a hotel and apartment complex called Corendon village, in a non-touristy area. To get around Amsterdam, in addition to their free shuttle bus, I bought a 3-day pass, which allows me to take the train from the airport to Amsterdam Central Station, as well as unlimited public transport in Amsterdam.
In addition to on-site restaurants, they have a “convenience store” offering sandwiches, sweets, ready-to-eat meals (they have a microwave on site) and alcoholic beverages. It’s easy to stay in the hotel and enjoy food and entertainment without a problem.
Overall Impression
I have stayed twice at the Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel and both times I enjoyed my stay here. Despite being far from Amsterdam (twenty minutes by train), I like this hotel for the services it offers, its friendly staff and its amenities. For those on a budget, and knowing that Marriott hotels in Amsterdam are often exorbitantly priced, this hotel is an excellent compromise for enjoying both the hotel and the city.
