To the point Read my impressions of the Air Canada flight from Montreal to New York in business class using Aeroplan miles.

A few days ago, I explained to you how I put together a last minute itinerary with Aeroplan miles to travel to France for family reasons. Here is the report of the first part of the outbound itinerary: Montreal – New-York.

Montreal – New York on Air Canada in business class

My flight taking off shortly before 9am, I don’t take any chance and leave at 6:30am from my home in the heart of Montreal.

The “Téotaxi” reserved from the application 10 minutes earlier arrives.

As usual, the driver is friendly, puts my suitcase in the trunk, offers me to take a picture in front of the Tesla, offers me a drink…

We feel that the company has been betting very hard since its launch on customer service… and it works: the cost being identical to that of other cabs, why deprive yourself of it?

Arrived at the airport in 30 minutes, I have only one carry-on bag and therefore have nothing to check.

I quickly pass the security checks and the American customs. With my Aeroplan business class award ticket, I have free access to the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge in the transborder terminal.

This lounge offers comfortable spaces, and I decide to sit down facing the tarmac to start my working day.

After a short hour of work at the salon, it’s time for me to board a short flight to New York.

The business cabin offers 9 seats in 3 rows. Traveling alone, I chose a single seat on the left side of the aircraft.

This chair is comfortable for a short-haul flight like this. You can see below the difference with the economy cabin.

However, if your final destination is New York, I really don’t recommend paying double miles for this short trip (30,000 miles instead of 15,000…).

In my case, since the flight from New York to Paris was in first class, my first flight from Montreal to New York cost me the same number of miles whether in economy or business class: I might as well go for comfort!

We leave the door on time and the takeoff will be done less than 5 minutes later.

Then we take off by flying over the St. Lawrence.

A few moments later, we reach our cruising altitude: the weather is very cloudy over the American border!

The service starts and will be efficient. Given the time, a breakfast is proposed and is very correct: fruits, yogurt, omelet, sausage, coffee. For the economy class, a paying service is offered.

After a short hour flight, we are already at Newark Airport, in New Jersey, with a beautiful view of Manhattan.

Bonus: we pass a Southwest plane sporting the new “facebook” livery.

Bottom line

A short flight on Air Canada, with nothing to complain about: the flight took off on time, the in-flight service was efficient, and the arrival in New-York was a few minutes early.

Once arrived I join the Lufthansa lounge where I decided to spend a good part of my day to work!
