The Canopy Lounge is one of the two lounges accessible to passengers departing from Terminal 1 of Nice Côte d’Azur Airport (NCE). Here is our opinion on this lounge.
We had the opportunity on a previous trip to try the lounge The Library, also located at terminal 1 (gate A33).
The lounge The Canopy Lounge is located on the 2nd floor of Terminal 1, after security, in the immediate vicinity of gate B42. As you can see on the map, it is located in room B of Terminal 1: it is therefore necessary to pass Customs control to access it.
Once the customs control has been passed, we are now in Room B, i.e. flights outside the Schengen area, including our flight to Istanbul on Turkish Airlines.
The lounge is behind the windows on the 2nd floor:
To get there, you have to take the stairs or the lift (broken down during our visit… too bad, especially with a stroller!).
Once on the 2nd floor, a glass door gives you access to the lounge.
The Canopy Lounge is accessible to traveling passengers in business class on most airlines operating in Terminal 1, as well as to holders of card s Priority Pass (free subscription and free unlimited entry for ).
It is also possible to pay for access at a cost of 30 euros per person. Note that access to the lounge is free for children under 3 years old.
The lounge is divided into 2 large spaces: interior and mezzanine. Within the interior space, honeycombed partitions allow the spaces to be separated while maintaining the outside luminosity.
There are several spaces to isolate oneself.
There’s an area with self-service computers:
From the lounge, it is possible to observe the boarding area B and in particular gates B41 and B42: handy to know when to leave the lounge!
2 buffets are available on both sides of the lounge. The choice is suitable to meet all desires, especially the smallest with madeleines, pancakes and other biscuits.
Note the presence of a microwave: practical to reheat dishes for the youngest.
Alcohol is free of charge and champagne is also served free of charge on request.
Between the interior space and the mezzanine area are the toilets. These have an exchange rate table. Very good point for families!
The space we have chosen is the mezzanine. It is bathed in outdoor light and has plenty of space to relax.
Chance or not… as you can see, the mezzanine space was not very busy! Tables are available for working and charging electronic devices.
A few games keep the children busy.
I must say I was very pleasantly surprised by this lounge. Perhaps I was lucky because of the low turnout. Anyway, we had a good time with the family there before boarding our flight to Istanbul.
It is very much appreciated the attention paid to the families:
So certainly, a lounge is not “a playground”, nor a daycare center. It is the responsibility of parents to supervise their children and to leave the lounge in case of screaming / crying, which we have always done.
But as parents, it’s good news to see the lounge think of them, especially when airports don’t necessarily have spaces dedicated to families!
We wrote a article on the subject. There are several card s to access the lounges Priority Pass. However, the only card that allows unlimited access to you and a person of your choice is the card from Platinum from American Express.
