Aeroplan launches a new partnership with airBaltic, allowing members to redeem Aeroplan points for over 80 destinations in Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus. Bookings can be made on aircanada.com with a partner booking fee of $39.
This new agreement significantly strengthens Aeroplan’s booking options in Europe, particularly for those wishing to explore the Baltic countries. AirBaltic, based in Riga, Latvia, operates one of Europe’s youngest fleets, composed exclusively of Airbus A220s, and will become the first European carrier to offer free Starlink high-speed internet on all its flights in 2025.
Members can book airBaltic flights in three ways: on aircanada.com, via the Air Canada mobile app, or by contacting the Aeroplan call centre. Aeroplan points can be used for airBaltic flights alone or combined with Air Canada and any other Aeroplan airline partner.
airBaltic flights follow Aeroplan’s Atlantic flight reward chart. The majority of destinations in the airBaltic network fall within the 0-1,000 mile and 1,001-2,000 mile bands. Longer flights like Riga-Dubai or Riga-Gran Canaria fall into the 2,001-4,000 mile category.
A partner booking fee of $39 CAD applies to any reservation including an airBaltic flight. These fees are identical to those applied for other Aeroplan non-Star Alliance partners and are in addition to the usual taxes and fees.
No, earning Aeroplan points on airBaltic flights is not currently available. No announcement has been made regarding potential future earning. For flights booked with airBaltic, Canadian travellers can credit their flights to the Air France KLM Flying Blue program, an option generally more advantageous than the airBaltic Club program.
To quickly earn Aeroplan points, welcome offers from Aeroplan credit cards like the TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite* Card are an excellent way to get free flights on Air Canada or airBaltic with points.
AirBaltic serves over 80 destinations from its Riga hub, covering Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus. The carrier is particularly strong in serving the Baltic countries (Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania) and offers excellent connections to European capitals.
In conclusion, this new partnership between Aeroplan and airBaltic significantly expands booking options for Canadian members, particularly those interested in the Baltic countries and Eastern Europe. Although earning points is not available and partner fees apply, access to airBaltic’s modern fleet and its extensive network represents significant added value for the Aeroplan program.
