United Airlines - Destinations in 2024
In a recent announcement, United Airlines, one of the major carriers in the United States, unveiled its schedule for summer 2024. The new offer includes expanded connections between several Canadian cities and major U.S. airports, as well as an increase in international flights. Let’s take a look at the destinations and how to get there with Aeroplan points.
The company's hubs
United Airlines operations are based at seven hubs across the United States.
The biggest in terms of traffic is Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), with 515 domestic and 45 international flights per day! United Airlines uses this hub mainly for connections with Canada, and flights to Europe and the Caribbean.
United Airlines’ second hub is at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in the south of the country. Next come Newark-Liberty International Airport (EWR), Denver International Airport (DEN), San Francisco International Airport (SFO), Washington-Dulles International Airport (IAD) and finally Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
These strategic international airports facilitate connections for travelers transiting the U.S., serving as hubs for both domestic U.S. and Canadian routes.
In addition, regional airports in the United States are closely connected to these hubs. United Airlines flies to an impressive 213 domestic destinations.
United Airlines - Flights to Canada
During the 2024 summer season, United Airlines will maintain its status as the largest U.S. carrier to Canada, offering the most flights to the most destinations.
In total, United Airlines will serve nine cities in Canada:
- Toronto (YYZ) ;
- Montreal (YUL) ;
- Calgary (YYC) ;
- Ottawa (YOW) ;
- Edmonton (YEG) ;
- Winnipeg (YWG) ;
- Vancouver (YVR) ;
- Quebec City (YQB) and
- Halifax (YHZ).
More than 150 flights a day will be operated by United Airlines between the USA and Canada this summer. As a new feature, service will resume on these routes in May:
- Halifax-Newark ;
- Vancouver-Washington ;
- Winnipeg-Denver ;
- Winnipeg-Chicago and
- Quebec City-Chicago.
In addition, United Airlines will replace its Embraer aircraft with larger ones on the Edmonton-Denver and Montreal-Newark routes to increase passenger capacity.

United Airlines serves 135 international destinations in 70 countries. There’s no shortage of places to discover!
Find all flights operated by United Airlines on FlightConnections by doing a global search and filtering by airline.
New features for 2024 include the New York-Faro route, which will be launched in May. Located in the Algarve region of southern Portugal, this ocean-side town is packed with sunny beaches and beautiful scenery.
The Newark-Reykjavik route in Iceland will also resume in May. From the US West Coast, Manila in the Philippines and Beijing in China will be added to the destinations departing from San Francisco.
Finally, the company will operate more than ten flights to Alaska on a daily basis. Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city, will welcome a new flight from Washington-Dulles. A link between Fairbanks and Denver has also been added to the list.
The Island Hopper: an extraordinary itinerary
Want to get really off the beaten track? United Airlines operates a special flight in the Pacific: UA155, nicknamed the “Island Hopper”.
The flight departs from Guam and travels to Honolulu in Hawaii, with five stops en route. Stopovers are made at three different airports in Micronesia and two in the Marshall Islands.
This very special itinerary can be booked for 35,000 Aeroplan points on the Air Canada website.

United Airlines - United Polaris business class
United Airlines’ business-class product is called Polaris. This cabin is found on the vast majority of the company’s wide-body aircraft, including the Boeing 777-300, 777-200, 767-300, 787-8 and 787-9.
In addition, Polaris lounges reserved for business-class passengers are available at all major United Airlines airports except Denver.

How can I book United Airlines flights with Aeroplan points?
Since United Airlines is a member of the Star Alliance group, Aeroplan points can be used to book flights with this carrier. However, only a few premium seats are available for booking via partners.
