Porter: connections between Montreal and California and more new service for spring and summer 2024

To the point Porter Airlines has announced new routes between Toronto, Quebec City, Saskatoon, Ottawa, St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. St. John's, Deer Lake, Halifax, Montreal, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The airline is thus demonstrating its determination to expand its transcontinental network.

New non-stop service to California

Porter Airlines will be adding seasonal round-trip flights to California at the end of June.

Two new non-stop routes between Montreal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and San Francisco International Airport (SFO) will be offered to travelers.

Porter announced that the YUL-LAX route will be offered four times a week from June 27, 2024. As for the YUL-SFO route, it will be offered three times a week from June 28, 2024. These flights, operated with 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, will end on October 26, 2024.

New route between Toronto and Quebec City

Porter Airlines will now offer daily round-trip service between Toronto’ s Pearson Airport (YYZ) and Quebec City ‘s Jean Lesage Airport (YQB), starting May 17, 2024.

Travelers will be able to enjoy this new route until October 26, 2024, aboard the new Embraer E195-E2 aircraft.

  • Departure from Toronto at 9 a.m., arriving at 10:25 a.m. in Quebec City;
  • Departure from Quebec City is scheduled for 11:20 a. m., with arrival in Toronto at 12:53 p.m.

First service in Saskatchewan

Flights between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Saskatoon International Airport (YXE) will be launched on May 16, 2024 with the new 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft.

  • Passengers will be able to board at 2:30 p.m. from Toronto, arriving at 4: 04 p.m. in Saskatoon;
  • From Saskatoon, the flight will depart at 4:55 pm, arriving in Toronto at 10:09 pm.

Fares start at 142 CAD for a one-way economy flight from Toronto. To save on this flight, you could use travel points and opt for American Express Membership Rewards points.

The route will also connect Eastern Canadian cities from Toronto, including Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa and St. John’s the company added.

Porter points out that it is the only airline on this route to offer a two-by-two configuration without a central seat, including several on-board services, including free Wi-Fi.

Looking ahead to spring 2024, Porter Airlines recently unveiled new routes linking Montreal to Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton, as well as a non-stop flight between Ottawa and Winnipeg.

New service to Newfoundland

Starting in June, Porter is enhancing its offer for travellers from Newfoundland.

The company will launch the only non-stop flight between Ottawa and St. John’s on the market. In addition, Deer Lake is added to its growing list of Canadian destinations, with daily service to Halifax.

The Ottawa-St. John’s service will start on June 6, 2024 with a daily flight by Embraer E195-E2. The Halifax-Deer Lake route will be operated with a smaller aircraft, the De Havilland Dash 8-400. The first flight is scheduled for June 4, 2024.

Three new crew bases

Porter Airlines has also announced the addition of three new Embraer E195-E2 crew bases across the country.

Some 350 pilots and flight attendants will be deployed at Ottawa International Airport (YOW), Montreal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) and Vancouver International Airport (YVR).
