To the point Air Canada has announced that it will launch fast, free Wi-Fi access for its Aeroplan members starting in May 2025.

Air Canada - An Essential Wi-Fi Service for Passengers

This free service, provided by telecommunications giant Bell, will be available to Aeroplan members traveling in North America and to sun destinations on aircraft equipped with Wi-Fi, starting in May 2025, Air Canada announced in a press release.

The airline has stated its intention to roll out its free Wi-Fi service to all long-haul international routes by 2026.

The installation of Wi-Fi service on Air Canada Express Q400 aircraft, including those serving Toronto‘s Billy Bishop airport, is also part of the carrier’s objectives. This announcement is a first for Air Canada on this type of aircraft.

Access to a reliable Wi-Fi network “is becoming a must for customers” in economy or business class, said Mark Nasr, Air Canada’s Executive Vice President – Marketing and Digital Solutions, and President of Aeroplan.

The service will be offered on flights operated by Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge, as well as on most Air Canada Express aircraft, the carrier said.

Air Canada - Save With Aeroplan

Aeroplan members will enjoy free Wi-Fi access from departure to arrival.

This free in-flight Wi-Fi initiative, already offered by many airlines including WestJet, builds on Bell’s toll-free text messaging service, which has been available to Aeroplan members through Air Canada since May 2023, Air Canada recalled.

If you’re interested in this service, all you have to do is sign up for the free Aeroplan loyalty program, which allows members to earn points by using a credit card affiliated to the program.

It’s easy to earn points with a welcome offer from a credit card like the TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite* Card. As a cardholder, you’ll get the first checked bag free for you and up to eight passengers on the same reservation.

This benefit should be taken into consideration, as carry-on baggage will no longer be included in Air Canada tickets purchased at the basic economy fare starting January 3, 2025.
