Many companies and businesses offer special discounts for people of a certain age. These in-store discounts for seniors represent a valuable opportunity to take advantage of special reductions and save on their everyday purchases.

In recent years, many seniors’ discount programs have been discontinued or modified. Below is the most up-to-date list.

Always check with the retailer first, to find out if the discount is valid and its conditions, as these change rapidly. Please note that the promotions below have all been verified and may end, change or be modified at any time.

Don’t forget your ID card with date of birth (like a health insurance card), in case the store needs proof.

As Canada’s largest seniors’ organization, FADOQ (Fédération de l’Âge d’Or du Québec) offers over 1,000 advantageous discounts and exclusive privileges. This enables members aged 50 and over to enjoy their retirement to the full, while keeping their budget under control.

These discounts apply equally to food, finance and insurance, restaurants, electronics, health and beauty products, and more.

The cost of the FADOQ privilege card is $30 for a 12-month subscription or $50 for 24 months, payable by Visa or Mastercard. By browsing their site, you can see the different offers. For example, a new insurance policy with lower premiums thanks to a FADOQ membership quickly pays for itself!

CARP (Canadian Association of Retired Persons) is the equivalent for all of Canada.

Here’s a list of discounts at various stores that don’t require paid subscriptions.

Amerispa: Every Tuesday of the month, people aged 60 and over benefit from a 20% discount on a treatment or package at participating centers.

Nautilus Plus: Seniors aged 65 and over receive a 20% discount on the regular rate.

SEPAQ:

1. 10% discount on camping stays from Sunday to Thursday with the code CAMPING-60ANS when booking for those aged 60 and over;
2. 10% discount on a fishing holiday with cottage accommodation from Sunday to Thursday with the code PECHE-60ANS for those aged 60 and over between the end of July and September;
3. 10% discount on daily admission or membership for people aged 65 and over at the Aquarium du Québec.

Laurentian Bank: The 60+ Advantage program offers a $5 discount on the monthly rate of 2 packages: Transigez beaucoup and Transigez sans limite.

Scotiabank: People aged 60 and over get $7 off the Scotiabank Ultimate Package Chequing Account$ 4 off on the Scotiabank Preferred Package$ 4 discount on Scotiabank Basic Plus Chequing Account and everything is free for the monthly fee on a Basic Scotiabank Chequing Accounta Scotia Daily Interest Account in U.S. dollars and a Scotia Euro Account.

TD Bank: TD Bank offers a discount on monthly fees for certain chequing accounts for people aged 60 and over. The discount is $2.75 on a daily chequing account, $5 on an unlimited chequing account and $7.50 on an all-inclusive banking package.

BMO: BMO offers a $4 discount on its monthly banking account packages for people aged 60 and over. The Convenience Account is now free, the BMO Chequing Plus Account is $7.95, the BMO Performance Chequing Account is $12.95 and the BMO Preferred Chequing Account is $26.

NBC: Seniors aged 65 and over receive a $5 rebate on monthly National Bank banking packages. This way, you’ll get the NBC Chequing Account The Minimalist for free, the NBC Chequing Account The Modest for $5.95, the NBC Chequing Account The Connected for $10.95 per month and the NBC Chequing Account The Total for $23.95.

CIBC: CIBC offers the benefits of the CIBC SmartSteps program for seniors, starting at age 65. There’s a $6.95 monthly fee reduction on selected chequing accounts, bank drafts and money orders at no charge, as well as a $5 reduction on the annual rental fee for a safety deposit box.

Desjardins: As soon as you turn 60, you’ll benefit from a $4 monthly fee reduction on your current account. People aged 71 and over also have certain transactions free of charge if you ask your Caisse.

RBC: If you are 65 years of age or older, you may be eligible for discounts ranging from $4 to $7.50 on the RBC Day to Day Banking Plan, RBC Advantage Banking Plan, RBC Signature No Limit Banking Plan and RBC VIP Banking Plan.

Aliments Merci: 10% discount on all purchases of $25 or more, on regular-priced merchandise, for people aged 65 and over.

Bulk Barn: Every Wednesday, seniors aged 65 and over enjoy 15% off regular-priced purchases. What’s more, this offer can be combined with the $3 or $5 coupons often found in Bulk Barn flyers!

La Moisson: 10% discount on Beauty and Supplements items for people aged 65 and over.

M&M Meat Shops: Every Tuesday, seniors aged 60 and over are entitled to a 10% discount on all purchases of regular-priced items in stores and online.

Tau Markets: Seniors aged 60 and over receive a 10% discount on all supplements and natural cosmetics on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This offer excludes hair and body care.

Rachelle Béry: Every Tuesday, there’s a 10% discount for seniors aged 60 and over on supplements and natural care products only. Don’t forget to scan your Scene+ card at checkout to earn more Scene+ points.

Ares Cuisine: On Wednesdays, 10% off the regular price is offered to people aged 60 and over.

Center d’animaux Nature: Every last day of the month, people aged 65 and over receive 20% off regular-priced items.

Hart: The 1st Monday of the month offers 15% off almost all regular priced products for those aged 55 and over.

The Salvation Army: 10% discount for people aged 60 and over, every day.

The Bay: Every Tuesday is Seniors’ Day at The Bay! Get an additional 15% off regular, sale and clearance-priced merchandise for people 55 and over.

La Grande Ménagerie: People aged 65 and over get 5% off pet food and other products, and 10% off accessories at all times.

Laura Secord: 10% discount for seniors 55 and over in store only, every first Monday of the month.

Michaels: Customers aged 55 and over enjoy 10% off regular-price and sale purchases, every day.

Pépinière Locas: Every Thursday in March and April only, people aged 55 and over get 10% off their bill.

Pitou, Minou & Compagnons: On the last Tuesday of the month, people aged 60 and over get 15% off. Don’t forget that this business is linked to the AIR MILES program and that you earn 1 mile for every $20 spent in store.

Ricardo: Every first Monday of the month, customers aged 60 and over get 15% off eligible purchases in Saint-Lambert, Laval and Quebec City stores.

Rossy: Every Tuesday, people aged 60 and over benefit from a 10% in-store discount.

Giant Tiger: On the first Monday of every month, seniors aged 60 and over receive a 10% discount on their purchases at Giant Tiger stores only.

Village des Valeurs: 30% discount every Tuesday, during Seniors’ Day for those 60 and over.

Brunet: Get the Privilege Card for 10% off eligible items at regular price, if you’re 60 or over. Brunet pharmacies are linked to the Moi loyalty program and you can use them to save even more.

Jean Coutu: In a limited number of Jean Coutu pharmacies, a privilege card gives you 10% off the regular price on certain eligible products, every day. Ask your pharmacy if it participates in this program. At the same time, swipe your Moi card for more points!

Lawtons Drugs: 20% discount for people 55 and over on several eligible products who swipe their Scene+ card at checkout.

Shoppers Drug Mart: Every Thursday, Shoppers Drug Mart offers a 20% discount to PC Optimum members age 65 and over and their accompanying family members. What’s more, on certain occasions throughout the year, there’s a special day for these people, with a $10 bonus gift card given with the purchase of $50 or more, always with the usual 20% discount.

Proxim: Get the 60+ Privilege Card for 10% off eligible items at regular price, if you’re 60 or over.

Rexall : Every Tuesday, seniors 55 and over receive a 20% discount on presentation of the Be Well Rewards card.

Uniprix: Ask for the 60+ privilege card at the checkout to enjoy a daily 10% discount on eligible products for people age 60 and over.

Amtrak: 10% discount for seniors of 60 and over on most Amtrak trains and those operated in conjunction with Via Rail Canada (such as the Adirondack train).

Carnival Cruise Line: Special prices for those 55 and over are available on several cruises.

Days Inn by Wyndham, Howard Johson, Travelodge: Guests 60 and over are entitled to a special discount at select Wyndham hotels. Simply check the “Senior” option when booking.

Fairmont : Up to 20% discount for people 55 and over at participating Fairmont hotels.

Hilton : For people aged 65 and over, Hilton hotels offer up to 7% discount.

IHG hotels (Intercontinental, HolidayInn, Crowne Plaza, etc.): Discounts vary by hotel, for guests 62 and over.

Jaro Hotels: 20% discount on a hotel room for stays on Sunday or Monday evenings, for people aged 60 and over.

Marriott Bonvoy hotels: Seniors aged 62 and over benefit from a discount of up to 15% when staying at Marriott Bonvoy hotels. In the booking search tool, select “Senior discount”.

Sandman Hotels: Up to 25% at participating hotels and $10 gift card per person for food and beverage, for people 55 and over.

Hôtel Tadoussac: 10% discount on the daily rate for people aged 55 and over.

Intercar: 15% discount on a bus ticket for people aged 65 and over.

Limocar: The Club 60 fare for people aged 60 and over offers 15% off the regular fare of a bus ticket, an additional 10% discount for a round trip and an additional 20% discount for a booklet of 10 tickets.

Maheux: A Club 60 fare offers a 15% discount on the regular bus fare for people aged 60 and over.

Orléans Express: 15% discount for people aged 65 and over.

Royal Caribbean: Some cruises offer a discount for people aged 55 and over.
