With 100,000 Aeroplan points, a couple can head south for the 2026 holidays, as long as they pick the right dates and the right destination. During the busiest travel period of the year, Air Canada prices its flight rewards on demand: the same flight can cost twice as many points on December 20 as it does in January. This guide starts from the current Aeroplan Flight Reward Chart (August 2026 version) and the 15% cardholder discount to price realistic trips from Montreal and Toronto.

What an Aeroplan flight costs in 2026
For a flight within North America, which for Aeroplan covers Canada, the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean, the price depends on the distance actually flown. Air Canada publishes two figures per distance band: a "starting at" price, which is not guaranteed, and a median based on actual member redemptions. The amounts below are for a one-way economy flight, per person.

Over the holidays, plan on the median or higher. Partner flights follow a fixed chart, but they add a $39 booking fee per ticket.
The 15% cardholder discount
This is the change that reshapes the math this year. From September 10, 2026 to January 11, 2027, primary Aeroplan credit cardholders pay 15% fewer points on the base fare of Air Canada flight rewards, and the discount becomes a permanent card benefit on January 12, 2027. It applies automatically when you're signed in to your Aeroplan account at booking.

Two limits to keep in mind:
- The discount applies to points only: taxes and fees are still paid in cash.
- A flight operated by a partner doesn't always qualify: the booking engine shows the discount on eligible itineraries.
How far do 100,000 points go?
A round trip for two people means four one-way flights. The table below applies the August 2026 chart to popular holiday destinations, using Air Canada's median as a realistic assumption.

These figures are an order of magnitude, not a booked price. During Christmas week and New Year's week, Air Canada flights often price above the median. For a one-way Toronto–Frankfurt flight on December 19, 2026, our search showed 101,680 points in economy, discount included.
Florida: the safe bet for two
Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Orlando and Tampa are all under 1,500 miles from Montreal and Toronto. That puts them in the second distance band, the cheapest one after short regional flights.
At the median, a round trip for two costs 60,000 points, or 51,000 points with the 15% discount. That leaves enough for a few hotel nights in points, or a second trip later in the winter. From Quebec City, Fort Lauderdale and Miami are slightly over 1,500 miles and move up to the next band.
Caribbean and Mexico: Cancún, Punta Cana, Montego Bay
Cancún, Punta Cana and Montego Bay are all between 1,500 and 2,750 miles from Montreal. At the median, a round trip for two costs 68,000 points, or 57,800 points with the discount.
For a couple, this is the most realistic sun destination on 100,000 points. Departure taxes in the Caribbean are higher than in the United States, though, so check the cash amount before you confirm.
Western Canada and the U.S. West Coast
From Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver, Phoenix and Los Angeles fall into the same band as the Caribbean. For a ski trip to the Rockies or an escape to Arizona, plan on the same 68,000 points at the median for two, or 57,800 points with the discount.
From Toronto, Calgary is under 1,700 miles, so the same band applies.
Hawaii: doable, but tight
A Montreal–Maui flight connects in Vancouver and covers more than 4,900 miles. It lands in the most expensive North American band: 22,900 points at the median per one-way flight.
- Round trip for two, at the median: 91,600 points
- With the 15% discount: 77,860 points
- Left over from 100,000 points: about 22,000 points, or nothing if prices run above the median
Europe and the Christmas markets: one ticket
Europe sits in the Atlantic zone, with its own chart. Montreal–Paris is about 3,400 miles, so it falls in the 0 to 4,000-mile band: 32,500 points starting price and 40,800 points at the median, one way.
With 100,000 points, you can pay for one round trip, not two. If you have your eye on the Christmas markets in Europe, pool points with another family member or travel in early December, when demand is lower.
Hotels paid with Aeroplan points
For a family of four, 100,000 points won't cover the flights to Florida. Another option is to pay for the flights in cash and use your points for the hotel.
Hotel stays booked with Aeroplan points start at 10,000 points a night. Aeroplan credit cardholders also get the fourth night free when they book four consecutive nights at the same hotel. The value per point is often lower than on a flight, so compare with the cash price before you book.
Earning 100,000 points before the holidays
If your balance is too low, you have two levers:

For the 2026 holidays, 100,000 Aeroplan points cover a round trip for two to Florida, the Caribbean or Western Canada, with room left for a hotel or a second trip. Hawaii is doable for two, Europe for one person only. The 15% cardholder discount makes every scenario cheaper, as long as you're signed in when you book.
