Online grocery stores in Canada
In Canada, there are many ways to shop at a supermarket online.
Metro and IGA are the main and oldest ones to offer:
- online grocery shopping
- AND home delivery
Other grocery stores also offer it such as Maxi and Provigo with the“PC Express” formula, or Walmart.ca.
Metro, for American Express card holders
Metro and Super C are the two major grocery stores that accept American Express credit cards.
This allows you to earn a lot of points with certain American Express cards that classify grocery store purchases in a“bonus category“: up to 5 points per dollar with the American Express Cobalt® Card or the American Express Gold Card from Scotiabank.
And that’s in addition to the Metro&Moi points you earn: 1 Metro&Moi point per dollar of purchase in addition to personalized offers.
IGA, for AIR MILES collectors
IGA has been offering online grocery shopping since 1996.
Since IGA is a partner in the AIR MILES program, you earn 1 AIR MILES mile for every $20 in purchases (in addition to the weekly offers available).
And by using one of the AIR MILES credit cards, it’s possible to do double dip : for example, the BMO® AIR MILES® World Elite®* Mastercard®* allows you to collect 3 AIR MILES Reward Miles per $12 in purchases!
Provigo and Maxi for PC Optimum points
Finally, PC Optimum customers can shop online at Provigo and Maxi. Delivery is available in some regions of Canada.
This allows you to earn 10 PC Optimum points for every dollar spent. And between 10 and 30 PC Optimum points if you use one of the President’s Choice credit cards.
